Cannot beat the first boss in hard difficulty
I don't understand, we're not supposed to go in hard the first time ? I'm on 10th try, even more I think and I just got to phase 2 once and go obliterated.

I could go in normal but I don't know, I don't want to find the mid/end game too easy..

I'm used to difficulty, I always play in hard, I love challenge, I finished DS1 SL1, NG+7 right of the gate and so on but here I don't find my flow.

(and, no salty but the music and the screech of the bat are obnoxious, not a fan at all)

I will give this game a chance but for now I'm just like "wtf"

I parry all the yellow pattern, but man he has so much life, phases with minions and I die in two hits

Let me some time before giving me a boss like that.

I guess it's my fault to go with hard right away

I finished the game on medium. Apparently, the difficulty curve is inverted, because once you're geared up with high level stuff, buffed health bar and all spells, all fights are WAY more forgiving.

If you can break through the first part until you build and upgrade the blacksmith shop, the rest will be downhill.
Yeah I assumed taht, that's why I did hard roght of the gate but I'm just stuck at the first boss. It's just too hard, I have nothing to improve my character
You're doing fiiine. The bosses on BW mode are loaded with HP. His patterns are pretty forgiving compared to some of the later bosses, so I would suggest you do one or two fights where all you do is dodge his attacks and parry those that you can (but do not attack). Go as long as you can.
The bosses on BW mode are all endurance runs until you get the final tier of weapons and armour.
Don't give up, the game is doable and more enjoyable as you progress. You got this!

I enjoyed BW Mode in the original but after crashing and burning so hard to the first boss I'm sitting here humbled hoping they dont add an achievement for it later on. lol
After finishing TOI 2 on BW mode I revisited TOI 1 to compare and, after nearly having a rage-induced-aneurysm from killing Green Wart and his sister on BW mode in TOI 1, I feel that the boss fights in TOI 2 are much clearer in where the damage will come from with the new indicators.

The first Boss is definitely the second hardest Boss in the game on BW mode. You have to be soooooo patient to insure you don't get nailed with the quick attacks. I only damaged him after yellow attacks and just dodged the rest.

General hints for bosses.
* Flying bosses - Stay close while they fly and dodge underneath them to avoid their attacks.
* Grounded bosses - Staying too close causes a circle attack (usually with element) but allows you a moment to do damage if you dodge it (usually 2 or 3 one-handed attacks with spear)
* Use the RUN button (L3). It is INSANELY helpful.
