How do you recruit crew members

I cant seem to recruit crew members can anyone tell me how to do so?

It depends on the adventure, some people forget to turn on crew members while making adventures. Simply adding the crew member slots doesn't work either, people need too add random crew members too those slots while making the adventure and then when you beam down from space stage, you can select your empires allies to come down with you
