Spore: Galactic Adventures

Spore: Galactic Adventures

Which game to load?
I used to play this game via EA ages ago.
Just bought the bundle on steam and its given me three games to download.
Spore
Spore Galactic Adventures
Creepy and Cute

Are these three totally separate games or can i just keep only one of them installed and gain access to all content?

if you want mods, C&C parts and no crashes you must load galactic adventures, if you want creepy e cute parts and no crashes you must load creepy & cute, if you want only the base game, base parts and a lot of glitches and crashes you can load the base game.

You should always launch Galactic Adventures if you have that installed.
You also need all of them installed.

This thread is a few months old, but its question is still relevant to anyone trying Spore on Steam.

So since this thread is already revived, let me add one important info I understood while trying to make the Steam Spore games work (I got them via Humble Bundle recently).

Forget the CDKeys - Steam won't show the CDKeys for this game. You can try looking through the Windows Registry, but it's a waste of time, methinks.

This is only solution that worked for me:
1. Buy and activate the Spore Creature Creator in the EA store/app (this will create & activate your EA account for Spore). This game is cheap, and I consider it as a punishment to self for not checking first whether the Spore version of Steam works by default (I got my Steam Spore games through a Humble Bundle deal).
2. Launch the Spore games from Steam library. It will prompt you for the EA login - complete the login with the email account you activated in EA app.
3. Spore will connect to Spore servers (your EA Spore account name will become visible in green text near the Spore Start button in the bottom left of game screen).
4. Spore Galactic Adventures needs to be connected in same way, and then you can browse and download the Sporepedia content (creature creations) shared by other players.

I dunno what the Spore Creature Creator does - I haven't bothered to try it yet. But that little purchase made the Steam Spore games work again, and the Spore servers are actually working even for such an old game, and the Sporepedia creatures are so weird and amazing to explore and try out, so I am happy. Enjoying this Spore game finally after waiting for so many years!

(Shame on EA for not making the Spore games work on Steam right off the bat, and not providing any notice about this additional purchase dependency on EA's Spore Creature Creator to create & activate the Spore EA account).

You don't actually need to do login at all to play Spore.
There's an option in the registration screen just to play offline, so it does work out of the box. Unless you want access to the servers; in which case, it is required to own either Spore or the Spore Creature Creator on the EA account you're using to login with.

The whole point of playing Spore is to see what amazing creatures other players have created and shared, and try to build better/whackier creatures yourself and then share them for the rest of the community. This game was popular because of its variety and possibilities of creativity (and that creativity deserves inspiration). Sure, Spore can be played single-player with no access to Sporepedia (the online community shared content), but that would be a very boring and uninspired game indeed. Newbies to the game won't even know the myriad possibilities to creature creation unless they browse through the Sporepedia and download some interesting creatures to play with.

That said, I agree. Offline Spore works out of the box, but online Sporepedia access happens only via EA/Origin Spore account which can (at least, as I found out the hard way) be activated only by additionally purchasing the cheap Spore Creature Creator game on EA store/app.

interesting... the WHOLE point of the game is to see what OTHERS have done... wow. It must suck to be you.
