I did a few tests with other creations including stuff made by other players (I had mostly been using Maxis creations along with my own). The only creations that were causing problems were some buildings and vehicles I created myself in an old spore playthrough. Back then I created these from scratch and without mods (unless you count the Creepy & Cute Parts expansion pack).
I opened these up in their editors, made some small changes (like moving a part one inch), and then saved. And when I tried to edit/ play my adventure with them again, it worked.
I still have no idea why it wasn't working before, but I guess this process works for now. If anyone could explain to me why it was doing this I'd appreciate it, but at least my adventures work.
Still not sure why it does this, but at least editing and saving creations again isn't too difficult. There's not a way to disable auto-sharing is there? Cause I can't seem to find a setting for it in options.
You can also edit the description to reshare the creations.
I'll go ahead and mark this topic as solved.
