Hardcore Space Mod v1.0
I've been working on a mod over the last couple of weeks which changes Space Stage to be much more difficult.

In summary
  • Many enemy weapons have had their damage increased
  • Players health has been lowered, and enemy health has been increased
  • Various player weapon tweaks
  • Many ammo consuming items cost money instead to fire
  • Sporebucks are harder to comeby
  • Grox are more agressive
It also comes with 3 new items
  • Flux Beam. Comes in 3 levels. Only attacks vehicles and turrets. Does higher damage than missiles or lasers, but only has a range of 80 (compared to 200 for missiles/lasers), and has a higher energy cost

  • Graviton Eradication Beam. End game item which costs §6,000,000, and §1,000,000 to use. Summons a massive asteroid to impact the planet and cause widespread extinction, terraforming it to T0 very quickly. It also breaks the galactic code.

  • Cargo Hold now goes up to 5 levels. Level 4 needs Collector 4 or Merchant 5. Level 5 needs Collector 5 or Colonist 5

If you want to REALLY make enemies harder, I'd suggest seriously amplifying the colony defense forces for all NPCs. I stumbled across some values in one of the files, something about colony defenders or security force or something, which actually changes the number of enemy ships in the fleets defending a planet.

It certainly makes things more interesting. Test it first, though; you may need to buff the proton missile or make a new ship-to-ship weapon that can help combat them in order to avoid making it completely impossible.

I've actually messed around with this value before, but whenever I would change how many defenders there would be it would have no visible effect. I may be missing something, but if I can figure out how to get it to work, its something I really want to add.

That, and making other empires distrust you more.
You need to change a fair few, because some pertain to outposts (non-homeworld planet's owned by other species) and there is an entirely separate set pertaining to their Homeworlds. Try as I might, though, I haven't been able to find anything that adds more defending ships to the player's Homeworld :/
