Changing Ships

Just starting and in Sector 7. How do I change from My Corvette to a Frigate? Tried a bunch of things but they don't work. Help!

Go to the prestige screen where you unlocked them. On the right side of the screen you see prestige and retrofit below it. Prestige restarts you from the beginning and resets most things, you keep synth levels and more things as they come.
Retrofit changes you to your new loadout, but also wipes out your cores levels. You have a limited number of retrofits per prestige.

that is all well and good, but how do I get retrofits? I am having a very tough time (very slow going) now that I am at sector 10 with my original ship.

If you dont have retrofits (left/yet) simply prestige to get the new ship.

I have the frigate and the cruiser, no refits and a sector 12 boss that I just trade shots with (we both have high shield re-gen). How do I get the cruiser into battle?

I found it! Reset prestige button finely lit up.
