Splice has a lot of potential in the long term, but it unlocks pretty late and it grows slowly. I just made it to 121 on this reinforce, and my spliced crew is currently giving a 9% bonus to alien research and a 4% bonus to synth speed. It's a pretty complex system with ways to grow, but it's not the sort of thing where just unlocking it instantly makes you super powerful.
I can get 700% just from that one fleet node that doesn't even need reinforce...
Turns out it only starts at Sector 117, and it starts off really really slow (it doesn't reset after a reinforce though, so it's a long-term thing).
So slow that it gave me next to no bonuses (like... 1% synth speed or something) when I reinforced again because I had completed all artifact upgrades.
So it's completely irrelevant until you plan to do a long reinforce, aka when you've finished all galaxy upgrades. Even though it's a bit boring, it's most efficient to just keep leveling your alien synths until you go for the big reinforce after Galaxy 5.
PS: To clarify, it doesn't reset after reinforce, but you'll still need to reach 117 and crew supremacy again before getting it to work again. It'll just start up faster if you had some levels the reinforce prior.
So not as useful as alien synth then.
Looks like I'm completing Gal 5 and then reinforcing.
