For Power, you can always see the target Sector, look at the Boss Health/Damage and look at your current Reactor Max Power. As soon as they are equal, you can go for it (if this challenge is green, that means you could have done it e2 to e3 earlier as it is very very late that it blinks green). It is the easiest as you are vastly overpowered most of the time. Remember to desactive Auto-Buy and not loose all your damage by mistake.
For Synth, generally each Tier or Tier and a half means another challenge should be done. I don't remember but I think Tier 2 is first challenge threshold, so challenge 2 is Tier 3, challenge 3 is Tier 4/5, challenge 4 is Tier 6 and challenge 5 is Tier 7. More or less.
Compute can be fully completed when you can buy 60 (maybe 70 or 80 for the 9 challenges, but for 7 I am fairly sure 60 is enough) level of Tier 2 weapon on a Destroyer. You go 1 Kinetic, 1 Bomb, 4 Kinetic full support and perma Volley. 1 Bulk shield + 2 Deflector as everything will One Shot, but you One Shot everything.
Sounds like I should be able to do Synth without too much trouble, once I figure out how it works. No guide on here for it, but, eh... how bad can it be to understand?
What do you mean "E2" or "E3" ?
Compute challenge is more about limited cash flow, once you have enough power and speed to cap out the level gains on each tier you have a finite amount. lower the tier of your weapon will allow you to reach the higher level breakpoints on each to give you more damage compared to a higher tier weapon that can not hit those breakpoints.
otherwise it could take days or weeks to hit the required breakpoints on your weapons because of the higher cost.
E2 or E3 is a comparison of magnitude if you are looking in scientific notation. even dealing with exponential level of damage or comparison. for instance 1.XXe10 to 2.XXe10 is minuscule in comparison to 1.XXe10 and 1.XXe12 when the scaling is multiplicative it's easier to put into perspective at a glance. most gains the higher you go are going to be in scales of magnitude.
when talking about Synth in particular we are talking about Synth Speed as reaching specific breakpoints will equate to Tiers in synth crafting and which challenge level you can progress to and clear in a reasonable time. Reasonable time is a few hours. If you spend more then 12 hours on a challenge time may not be able to help you cross that hurdle as you can't progress in permanent gains while in the challenge and are stuck in the special mechanics that have hardline limits based on your starting specifications in the challenge.
That got me to 19, and got me there fast. I'm going to let compute churn a little, but I don't think it'll go much further. Not even breaking the shield on this boss.
I think I saw a guide on layouts for base carry, it didn't mention what weapons are good or bad though. I liked this rather silly kinetic spam setup though, so I guess I'll just leave it.
Next up trying power hungry.
oooh, there's a full guide to power hungry on game vault. Nice.
... I was buying compute levels out of habit, and they do nothing... though maybe I can chase achivement with it when I hit the final retreats... 10X gain, while retreating, I can retreat a LOT...
So, synth, eh? Lets see what I can do with it.
I honestly do not understand how to opomize this, so I'm just making things pretty much at random. Once I have all my powerups back to red tier again, I GUESS I'll make stockpiles of each level, and treat it like the camels camps and desert crossing puzzle.
Figure if I let it run overnight... or at most a week.
If you can't complete Synth in an hour or so, I wouldn't bother leaving it running, you could probably get better core stats and complete it before you manage to brute force your way through.

has a challange section where you can read up on them and stuff.
I wouldn't normally let it grind away like this, but it's the 20th challenge to finish that achievement, and it's just so close... 180 meters to go... and then I don't have to worry about any challenges ever.
