The left is when you got all slots open while the right side is good until you unlock that last spot.
the differance is left has 2 x3 modefiers.
For componaits and parts you just hav the huge area surounded by multipliers and dividers.
Can I see your base 4 layout?

-are there any base 5 upgrades in other parts of the game? (Synth has only Base 1-4, Capital Research has base 5 upgrades in the later third, crew has nothing, afaik.)
Edit: Guess the first improvement to Base5 production is via warp,...
Only upgrades that boost Base 5 is reinforce, Crew Mastery Upgrades (2nd tab), Warp Essence and Vshard.
It provides a 2.5 factor depending on slot location
And Warp Essence stuff is quite affordable too, at least in the 2nd reinforce, not in the 1st reinforce.

Those are what i use, i do adjust them sometimes but i keep those as my core. I don't think you can get a good base setup without negatives for base 5.
Just for documentation - even though no one asked yet:
The reason why I developed my variant (independently from any content here) this way ...
... was not only to have 2 x5 and 2 x6 boosters on materials ...
... but also to have 2 x6 boosters in parts and components runs with 2 drain reducers active each.
In the alternative variant I can see only 1 drain reducer per x6 slot in parts and components runs.
and take the others manual if 1. slot have enough output.
If ya got negativ just layout full mats untill you can get up and there you go

(yellow and red split) gives 6,27e25/s parts and 1,55e26/s componats at -1,69e24 matts
so the old setups a roughly 6x effective for 4 times the price. for me at least.
seems to me the 4 dividers and 3 boosters are still better.
