So you want to spec disruptor into more ticks/targets so you keep more "dots" on boss for longer. Some bosses may even need 2 disruptors to stack enough "dots".
Normal phasing enemies usualy dont have this power and 1 dont us enough.
I cant access game atm so cant check exact disruptors upgrades nor make screenshot.
Thanks. Seems I need to take 2 disruptors. Sadly, I've used all retrofits this run, so I have to wait couple of days till another attempt =\
And there is secret code that gives you free retrofit (it gives 1 charge in consumables tab).

This code no longer works.
You basically need one red dot on the enemy for each phase jump power they have and then they can't phase any more.
I really need some spot to explain all the combat related things in game I think.
Thanks!
And I've used that retrofit code but haven't used the consumable, so +1 retrofit this run actually.
But the Disruption Charge weapon has to be my least favorite, or rather, the only part of the game I dislike. At Sector 68 you start running into normal enemies with a phase jump power of 24, and THREE Disruption Charge weapons aren't enough to keep them from dancing around your weapons for a few seconds. And to top it off, Disruption Charges don't even do very much damage as a weapon, but are mandatory to have on your ship.
I find that watching your ship attacking enemies is part of the fun, and watching your missiles fly past an enemy and into space isn't. I feel like the way Disruption Charges work vs Phase Jumping needs to be reworked, or at least for many enemies to have their Phase Jump power outright halved.
If you only use one Disruption Charge select Extended time, Extra Disruption, Target Splitting and treat it as a "stat" stick to buff your other weapons.
Make sure to make every other weapon target 1st option to "can't phase" and the Disruption Charge "Phasing" for 1st option. This prevents the target from phasing and dropping your Disruption Charges.
How it actually works i'm not 100% sure but if they phase they regen their phase power and you have to start over again. If i had to guess your stacking the ticks and that keeps it from regen similar to the fast regen shielding. If you can't stack enough Disruption Charges you won't be able to target with your other weapons. if your other weapons fire before you completely strip the phase power, it's a restart on stacking. If you don't have the extended tick times your charges drop too fast for the later bosses and sector mobs.
Other option, just overpower it where it can't break your shields, you will win eventually.
My final weapon Load out to beat sector 68 boss and farming in sector 69 for reference was 2x Disruption Charge, 2x Laser Charge, 1x Laser Beam, 1x Laser Cannon with 3 links on Damage Target Shard IV.
To make it clear i'm not 100% sure on mechanics. I can only comment on observations and make conjectures on why I think my setup works.
I really like how well explained everything is, and how many QoL improvements for the game are just there already like timers for max level, when you can afford the next upgrade, etc.
And yeah, it would be good if there was somewhere to reference the combat part of the game.
I agree, but I feel like that with all the projectiles, if a projectile has launched but it's target dies before it gets there it would be nice if it still hit whatever enemy it ends up passing through. Totally minor thing though, lol. (And I guess not what you're talking about since I'm only at level 20)
I think the dev made a a few tweeks here and there to weapons and targeting systems over the last 6mo. there are some newer threads for the current content that will be more helpful for clearing some of the bosses with targeting issues.
EDIT:
Try this one for boss targeting issues with Disruption Charge

Try this for projectile control in general.

There are better ones for choice of targeting and making your shots less wasteful, targeting choices, and weapon builds but they are kinda buried under odd title names.
