Few pointers:
Remember to switch your shards/reactor buffs/modules once in a while. You salvage, compute, synths and researches all matter.
At that point into the game the most damaging weapon combo at your disposal is one beam and two laser cannons acting as support to maintain 100% uptime on Laser Boost.
It shouldn't take you too long to unlock a ship with two utility slots. As you can't use duplicate, both will be the obvious answer until you unlock another utility station (and at that point you should have access to retrofit to switch things as needed mid-run).
You can effectively do only one thin at the time. So you may start with synth station, set all multipliers for synthing and get modules as high as possible (or just infinity your current materials, if you are crafting fast enough). Then you retrofit to something else like research, or pure damage to push or whatever.
Another thing you may be missing is challange. While computing one isnt that important, other 3 challanges boost your power. Like synth challange basicaly open you way for next synth tier, base carry gives you huge boost for bases and thus huge boost from b.components, power hungry gives big boost to reactor multipliers.
I gain nothing from prestige, infact it'll just slow down my synth and research speed.
Not saying thats good or bad, just agreeing that the game slams the brakes on pretty hard around this point.
