Sector 18+
It seems like around the time you reach ~Sector 18 the progression slows down to an absolute stop and you can't really do much to progress for an ungodly amount of time. Think it's been 1 soon 2 days and I still can't push past this. Is the rest of the game gonna be the same of this? Because I liked the smooth start but then after like only a day of play you pretty much can't do anything at all.

I'm just a few days in but 18+ haven't been an issue.

Few pointers:
Remember to switch your shards/reactor buffs/modules once in a while. You salvage, compute, synths and researches all matter.
At that point into the game the most damaging weapon combo at your disposal is one beam and two laser cannons acting as support to maintain 100% uptime on Laser Boost.

I'll try that setup and see if it's any better. Should you go Compute or Synth station? I'm going with Synth since it seems so essential to level materials up as well as upgrade modules.

You just have to keep jugling between various power boosts. You may just need synthing, or research, or base boost, or switch weapons. And you need to focus only to one thing cuz you can do multiple things at once effectively.

Your last sentence is confusing. I need to focus on one thing because I can do multiple things at once effectively? Wouldn't that mean I shouldn't focus on one thing? Or did you mean that I should focus on one thing because I CAN'T do multiple things at once effectively?

I went for Synth myself.
It shouldn't take you too long to unlock a ship with two utility slots. As you can't use duplicate, both will be the obvious answer until you unlock another utility station (and at that point you should have access to retrofit to switch things as needed mid-run).

Make sure you are using some of the red "buildings" in Base 1 and getting that prestige bonus.

Yeah already have 250x bonus. So the progress I make with red buildings now is negligible.

I am currently sitting at 1.22e8x bonus for base 1. 250x is still low and I would not consider it negligible. Your best option is to rotate through the focus points with your lowest being priority since it will see the most increase. Once you hit a wall where everything seems to be going slowly it might be time to prestige. Also give some challenges a shot when you are thinking about to prestige since they are HUGE bonuses if you can complete them.

I meant negligible in terms of how much I get in relation to time spent. At the pace it's going now I will probably not even hit a 0.5 times increase even if I left it on for like 12 maybe even 24 hours. That's what I meant by negligible.

The roadblock i've had is sector 21, personally.

Are you using Booster (the blue building)? I don't remember the exact multiplier I had before completing the first Base Carry challenge but 250 seems fairly low to me.

Yeah. I'm using them. And I made sure to optimize the placements of them for maximum gain.

You can effectively do only one thin at the time. So you may start with synth station, set all multipliers for synthing and get modules as high as possible (or just infinity your current materials, if you are crafting fast enough). Then you retrofit to something else like research, or pure damage to push or whatever.

Another thing you may be missing is challange. While computing one isnt that important, other 3 challanges boost your power. Like synth challange basicaly open you way for next synth tier, base carry gives you huge boost for bases and thus huge boost from b.components, power hungry gives big boost to reactor multipliers.

I'm at this point now aswell, been playing a few days and its gone smooth up to now, but i'll likely be sitting at the start of sector 19 for a few days just waiting for t2 synth to level and for my base to get to the point where i can do the first base challenge.
I gain nothing from prestige, infact it'll just slow down my synth and research speed.

Not saying thats good or bad, just agreeing that the game slams the brakes on pretty hard around this point.

Do you max out your shards? you can check in "Sector Data" to see which enemy drops what shards and if you have them maxed.
