This would be because the digital version is not limited by the physical objects that came with the original board game. This allows the player to get as much gold as they can without being restricted to a certain number.

This is one of those things that I wish was an option. Strickly speaking it should be caped like it is in the boardgame, but then have an option to unrestrict it.

Relic isn't limited by the amount of tokens. The rules of Relic startes that if something is missing, players should write the amount of extra tokens on a paper. I think they added that rule, because they learned from Talisman that the limited resources rule isn't the best rule ever.

I hear what your saying guys but the limit rule is a very important rule to the game some endings even key to it in later expansions eg The City. It isn't just a boardgame rule because of limited physical objects. Plus its a tactic of the leprecaun like I said before, I think if you included the character you should at least include the rule or even give a option to unrestrict it like terasis said.

Hehehe Talisman isn't Relic Nemomon :)
I agree the gold limit can change game tactics. The best would be to have this as option in Game Settings. Everyone will be satisfied then :)

Having a lot of gold isn't that useful. The most expensive thing only costs 4.

excuse me "Evil Puppy Cat" (cool name) but hoarding gold is useful if you have it all no-one else can have any.. In fact its a tactic to the Lep. plaus when the City comes out and Highlands it becomes even more important.

When I play as Lep and have for example 18 gold then I can gain +6 str or craft from Academy or Instructor. Its fast jump. +6 str/craft in 6 turns only. Sometimes it is gameover move.

I agree that the 30 gold limit should be in the digital version as in the board game. (Any rule differences between the DE and board game rules could be added as options)

One thing I'm unsure about in the rules: Must you pick up all the dropped coins or can you leave some/all of them on the space?

I say let Gold be infinite in the DE. The board game's limit was simply set by economics, i.e. how many counters GW/FFG chose to print. No such limiting factor in the DE.

I agree to that. Devs should at least add an option to turn off/on the limited resources rule. It's in the original board game and just as Goberlick said its not just because of the limited objects but as a part of game strategy. Some of the alternate endings negate the limited resources rule wich would be kind of pointless in D.E. at the moment.
Even the board game has an unofficial workaround. All 30 coin tokens are used up, there are still Bag of Gold cards. While the normal result is to immediately exchange for an equal number of coins, one could count the Bag of Gold cards as actual gold corresponding to the number of bags listed.

Sometimes I've been able to steal a "Bag of Gold" card instead of taking a life. Though this is just a conceit so the digital version doesn't have to use coin tokens most of the time.

Another workaround in the physical game is to begin using something else as gold tokens once the bank runs out (pennies, stones, candy, etc.).

You guys are forgetting that the gold cap is a "true" rule in the boardgame its not a "not enough counters" thing or a rule that players can just use other counters instead its a actual rule in itself.
