S3E Launcher Error
I just recieved a copy of Talisman, however i cannot play due to this error. When i launch the game this message comes up and the game closes. I have looked a forum post from others that had this problem back in 2015 and none of those fixs helped. I have reinstailed many times, verifyed my files and still nothing. My system is a i5 7500, evga 1050ti SSC, 16g ram, Windows 10. Anyone have any ideas?

I tried start the game today and have the same problem: "S3e launcher error" occurs and the game fails. Do something with it!
Hey guys, we've got an update coming out tomorrow - we're unsure if this will be any use to you but let us know if it does fix, by proxy, your launch issue.

Failing that, could you let us know if Talisman is creating any dump files for you?

You can find these by going to My Computer > C: (Local Disk) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Talisman. Here you should be able to find files with .MDMP extensions if you do have crash files being generated.
If you go to WeTransfer[wetransfer.com] you can attach that file and email it to support@nomadgames.co.uk. If you just copy and paste either your opening post or a link to this thread along with the file just for context we can hand it over to our programmers to debug and try and find you a solution.
update didnt fix so sent the bug report
I'm getting this error too on startup, but no dump file

Got it!

I'm getting this error too on startup, but no dump file

Could you try the following?

Go to Steam Library.
Right click on Talisman.
Uninstall.

Go to your start menu.
Search %appdata%
Go to Roaming.
Delete Talisman folder (this will delete all current saves that you had with the game).

Go to My Computer.
Go to Local Disk (C:).
Go to Program Files (x86).
Go to Steam.
Go to steamapps.
Go to common.
If there is a Talisman folder here delete this one as well (deleting the %appdata% one should remove it here but just in case it hasn't).

If you download Talisman again this should be a 100% clean install. When you run the game Steam may ask if you want to upload you local data or download your cloud data - choose to upload local.

Since the last update you may have conflicting save data which is tanking your launch, if you follow the above this should clean your PC of all Talisman data and should get it working/rule this out as the cause.

I will give it a try and report back.

Did all this and got the same error crash message
Have tried, and its still crashing. Even made a point of disabling use cloud storage to ensure data wasn't redownloaded.

Game still crashes on lauch.
According the Visual Studio (I happen to have it installed on my PC)

"Unhandled exception at 0x629B81E7 (d3d9.dll) in Talisman.exe: 0xC0000096: Privileged instruction."

Which apparently is

> d3d9.dll!CSwapChain::Reset(struct _D3DPRESENT_PARAMETERS_ *,struct D3DDISPLAYMODEEX const *,int,int) Unknown

Otherwise the error is

"Unhandled exception at 0x629B81D1 (d3d9.dll) in Talisman.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xB4F72824."

> d3d9.dll!CSwapChain::Present(struct tagRECT const *,struct tagRECT const *,struct HWND__ *,struct _RGNDATA const *,unsigned long) Unknown

Have emailed details, plus images of the call stack & disassembly window in the off chance they give a clue.
