Monk card changed?
So I'm looking at my 4th revised edition monk card, and it states "Your inner belief allows you to add your Craft value to your Strength during battle.". Yet in the DE version the text is changed to "Your inner belief allows you to add your starting Craft to your strength during battle."

The difference between starting craft, and craft value can greatly effect how this character is played. Was it changed for balancing reasons or was there a rule change made to the board game itself recently?

The Starting value is the correct version. The thing is that in the original Talisman the "Strength/Craft value", especially the "value" word, means "starting". You can find that in the core rulebook under the attributes description page. Because this is not so clear/obvious to everybody, the Nomads decided to alter a bit wording to make it clear now.

Ah, that wording is one of the changes made between the Black Industries and Fantasy Flight versions of the rulebook. BI used the term "starting craft" and FFG uses the term "craft value." This can be tricky for those who have the BI rulebook but have the FFG character cards (since new character cards were part of the FFG upgrade kit).

I really should get into the habit of reading the PDF of the FFG version of the book (rather than my apper BI rulebook) when I want to look up a rule.

Yeah the Revised 4th Ed (aka FFG) says Craft Value, which means the starting craft value. I remember when I used to play the 1st ed we used the craft total.

Its starting craft value for definate. Just imagine how awesome the monk would be if he could add current craft!!! He would make the troll look like a flower picking pansy!

IF Monk could add current craft he would be overpower!

I know this has been answered already, but I just wanted to be clear on this:
Craft value IS starting craft, there's no actual difference. The rules haven't actually been changed, they just made the wording clearer.
