Warlock Quest Reminder?
Hi all... Is there a reminder of your current Warlock Quest? Sometimes I forget what quest I'm on (or whether I have one).

Also, I have a question to the developers... the rules of The Reaper expansion say you should choose one of the 12 Warlock Quest Cards freely. However, the rules of The Frostmarch say you should draw one of its 24 Warlock Quests randomly. Do you think if we played with Reaper only we could get to choose? And if we played Frostmarch or Reaper + Frostmarch it could be random? I think that would be most consistent with rules! Just a suggestion while I'm on the topic. :)

Sorry just a sidetrack... my main question was about whether there's a reminder I'm missing.

Thanks!

There isn't but there will be. As for the rules, we try to stick to them as much as possible

We always draw Warlock quests randomly as it is much fairer, also reduces the chance of automatically completing them of course! I would guess if you enable Frostmarch and Reaper, those Frostmarch rules will supercede any conflicts with Reaper as it is a later expansion.

Glad to see we are going to get a Warlock Quest reminder. I mentioned this a while back but I dont remember seeing any feedback on that point.

We're working on a Warlock Quest reminder right now.

I noticed that you got to choose freely when playing with Reaper and without Frostmarch, but you get a random quest when playing with Frostmarch (either with or without Reaper). Even if this is according to the rules I wonder why this is so. Is there any specific reasoning for why you can't choose with Frostmarch (or why you get to choose with only Reaper)? Just curious...

Wouldn't it be easier if the quest cards were face up on the inventory screen until they're completed and then turned face down (like in the real game)
At the moment there's no way to see which ones are completed on the inventory screen unless you get the 'big' card view up to see which ones have been ticked.

Also when playing the 'Warlock Quest' ending when you've got an active quest or quests it doesn't show in the sidebar, if you've got more than 1 quest could a number be added to the card shown in the sidebar (which will show all the active quests when hovered over)

Agreed!

The reason Reaper quests allowed free choice was because the basic game had a problem whereby you could get stuck with a random quest that was impossible to complete. You can't get rid of a quest nor could you cross the Portal of Power until you completed it. The Reaper was the first Talisman expansion.

The Dungeon was the second expansion and Frostmarch the third. Frostmarch returned to random draw because if you got stuck with a difficult or impossible quest, you could use the Dungeon to help you. If you beat the Lord of Darkness by 8+, you could get to the Crown directly; if you beat him by 7, you could choose a Talisman and get to the Plain of Peril.

And even if you couldn't get a high enough attack score, or if you really needed to complete a quest (e.g. Warlock's Quest ending), you could choose treasures to help you, such as the Wand of Dragonfire to help Crafty characters beat Strength enemies, or the Orb of Prophesy to get certain cards. It's one (of the several) reasons why the default rule is free choice of treasure. :)

Anyway, since I typically introduce my friends to Talisman in the order of expansion release, I am glad Nomad paid attention to that detail!

Ah, I see. Makes sense now. Thanks! So, Frostmarch is better played together with Dungeon. Well, I like the Dungeon better anyway.

Could this also be added for the Warlock Quest Reward cards, when playing the Sacred Pool ending the inventory's full up with Quest cards & Reward cards and it's hard to see which Quests have been completed and which Rewards have been discarded (but kept).

Another thing I noticed is that you can enable the replace quests rule with just Reaper turned on. Replace quests is only in the Frostmarch rules not the Reaper's. (The option never greys out even with no expansions on)
If you've get free choice they're shouldn't be a choice to replace them.

There should really be an option to disable the Quest cards (as in the rulebooks)

Also on the subject of face-up/face down cards when playing with a hidden ending could a face-down ending card be shown in the side bar (until someone reaches the CoC), and maybe a face-down ending card with the turn number on for Sudden Death games (eg. 13/50) and Race to the Crown doesn't show in the sidebar.

Officially, Warlock Quest cards are supposed to be optional regardless of Reaper or Frostmarch. Lake of Visions would have no effect without the quest cards. Yes, Reaper is free choice, Frostmarch is top.

The Reaper is the only expansion where each new component (quests/reaper) is truly optional, as the cards don't mention them. Frostmarch says the quests are optional, but many cards depend on them, so I would say they should be required. And after that they recommended everything be used at once because they all the pieces started to depend on each other. Hence why Nomad probably enables the whole thing on or off. :)

Any news on the Warlock Quest reminder you were working on, two years ago? :)
It's been in the game for a while now, I can't remember when exactly it was added. Active player's Warlock Quest is shown at the bottom left, alongside other active effects such as multi-turn events.

Thank you, I didn't see it down there! :)
