Dark Cultist is way too OP
For those who don't know, whenever the Dark Cultist kills an enemy or makes a player lose a life, they get to roll for a chance for a bonus.

These bonuses include:
1 - Gain 1 Fate
2 - Gain 1 Gold
3 - Gain 1 Life
4 - Gain 1 Strength
5 - Gain 1 Craft
6+ - Gain 1 Spell

I've seen rolls happen way too many times on 3, 4, and 5, making the character severely strong, auto-killing almost everything and gaining more bonuses in the process and eventually making it a breeze for the character to win the game.

This character needs to be fixed or removed.

Well, I actually just played a game against my brother and girlfriend and she was the dark cultist while I was the Knight and my brother was the Druid. Unfortunately, whenever my gf killed an enemy she never rolled higher than a three and got stuck with a bunch of gold :P This really handicapped her as she wasnt having any luck with random draws either and she wasnt even a contender for the crown at the end.

I guess my point is the whole game is a bunch of RNG (albeit fun RNG) She does seem overpowered but there is just as much a chance that she will fail at those rolls. Or not even win any battles, or even fight any enemies at all!

On paper she does seem to be but in actual practice, she's not really. It all comes down to RNG like the whole game.

I've seen many Dark Cultist games and very few of them have won.

She start with fairly low stats and only 1 Fate. its really easy to get rid of her before she can become a threat. If you let her snowball its your own fault.
The Dark Cultist is not OP. Play the game some more.

As powerful as The Dark Cultist is even she isn't immune to a double 1 roll for the Reaper!

I just played Dark Cultist, no one let me snowball :(

For those of us who don't know??? Most people here have been playing the game since it's release, many more of us the original for decades before that, read ALL the discussions before you come on here over a character that YOU think is OP but is not, there are far more powerful characters and if you play the game more than 7 hours you will find that out

Most, not all. You're assuming everyone here does know. Anyone can come to the discussions here, new or not.

And therein lies the problem; people new to the game are not in a position to make an informed statement as to whether something is overpowered or not.

one game isn't a good sample though. or maybe your gf isn't a good player. in most game i've played the dark cultist can snowball a game.
31 years of playing Talisman has not dulled my senses at all. I know exactly what is overpowered or not. All characters are meant to be unique, some are more powerful than others. That's intended that way. The DC is not overpowered, she is powerful yes, but only if she rolls well after killing an Enemy!

Another thing to consider when discussing which characters are the most powerful is the # of players in the game. Some players can really shine with 4 or more(hint hint) players, the first one coming to mind is the Thief. If you are just playing one on one , it can be a totally different story. Especially one on one vs the AI , sadly probably most characters u control would be considered overpowered lol. The Troll would be a character whose chances I would like one on one, especially if the other character isn't a spell caster.

That being said , if I was choosing a character to try and win with , the Dark Cultist would probably be on my short list. Not at the top , but near it.

dark cultist CAN be very powerful, but she needs good draws to be. Consider that only about 25% of draws are enemies and less than half of those have 3 or less in strength/craft. If DC draws a few statboosts and then some enemies AND rolls the right number on her dice for reward she's very powerful. She needs a lot of luck though. On average she's actually not very powerful. I'd much rather play prophetess who makes her own luck.
