Much later I tried the 3rd edition, wasn't as happy with it and went to EBAY to pick up whatever parts I had lost to the "tsunami". Today I have both sets but for this Digital version I don't mind, so much, the 4th ed. version rules, probably because they remind me of 2nd ed. which is what 4th was based on (at least according to the wiki, I never purchased 4th edition hard copy).
I agree, though, the characters make the biggest impact on me and I think playing the Monk or the Priest brought back a lot of the nostalgia, at first. I can't say I'm pleased that the Monk (or other characters) can only add their STARTING Craft, as that was part of the funny slaughter that made the 1st/2nd edition Monk so fun to play. At a point it was ever me and my friends' joy, when playing him, to say "Oooh ahhh dooo wahhhh... you're F*ed!" when you had a 7+ craft and were already sporting a 7+ strength and decided to attack another player. =D
Still, the digital rules are enough that I'm satisfied and play happily without having to drag out my own board that's in storage. :)
Hardly found anyone to play with in the 80's, since the game was english only and none of my friends really understood the game. We were all still very young :)
I remember after PnP Dungeons & Dragons had a dutch translation available, so we started playing that game.
Started on the fourth edition (revised), got the Reaper and Dungeon expansions, and it was about that time that Talisman Prologue came out, been concentrating on the DE since.
Which home brews did/do you consider the best additions to the game and did u play them alongside the other official expansions ? I've always been intrigued by the sheer volume of home brews listed there and didn't know where to begin , hahaha. What are some of your favorites ?
