Great! Would be interested to know what you think of the character.
My last turn I landed on the Fields space just East of the City and drew Astral Conjunction. Everyone picked their spells, AIs took their turns, etc. On my next turn, I had a free teleport available - and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I assume it's a bug, and the game thinks I'd landed on the Graveyard or Cursed Glade and used my ability for the teleport, before even moving on my turn?
EDIT - wasn't the game thinking I'd hit the Graveyard or Cursed Glade, since I never got the selection window I just saw when I did hit the Graveyard. Just a mysterious free teleport.
This character is surprisingly amazing! Another player drew the Demon and Wraith while in the Hidden Valley and it seems you send both at the same time against someone else in the same region. Near the end of the game, the Nightmare interestingly joined my little spirit servants.
Later on, someone drew the Gathering, bringing the Succubus, Lesser Demon and another Wraith on himself. Using the Graveyard and Pathfinder to teleport on this little trio, i made them chase my enemies, with the Succubus becoming stronger each time.
When moving to the Cursed Glade from the Hidden Valley, i was able to teleport back there and draw 3 cards again. Getting the gifts of Mephistopheles, the Phantom and the Devil no matter who draws them is really good too, not mentioning being able to get lives and spells from the Graveyard and the Glade.
All in all, i expected to not like this character as much as the Exorcist and Courtesan, but i think it is my favorite of the three after only one game! Verdict: yes, do get!
Side note: I was playing with Bloodbath and used my spirit armies to torment the Thief to its ultimate death! >:D
I managed to use just about all of his special abilities during the course of play. I happened to draw the Runesword (the only weapon/armour item he can use), which was cool. I got the chance to use Send Spirit to grief an AI Warrior with a Lesser Demon, taking a life. I hit the Graveyard repeatedly, so tried healing lives (a lot :) ), drew a spell, and utilized the teleport options with brutal efficiency - all of them worked without any obvious bugs. Never happened to land on the Cursed Glade, but I assume that since the Graveyard choices worked that it would as well.
I also was able to correctly encounter both Mephistopheles and Devil when other characters drew them. I drew the Phantom, so couldn't check that one.
All in all, I love this character. His special abilities give you a lot of additional choices and options in gameplay, without being overpowered - and I like additional choices and options.
EDIT - I didn't get the chance to grief the AI characters with *stacks* of spirits like Alpro did (which sounds like tons of fun too :P), but at the start of my second game with Devil's Minion, I've found another evil use of Send Spirit.
If you draw the Lord of the Pit early in the game, and choose to fight him with Craft (technically making him into a Spirit), then Send Spirit him to someone else, your target then has no choice but to fight him with their Craft. I just did a nasty turn to the AI Troll in my game with this trick. Hehehehehe....
Oh it IS tons of evil fun. The Crone and Mummy are also very interesting to stack, though it didn't happen in my game, imagine combined craft 15+ spirits that turn others into toads!
I'm not sure if fighting the LotP with craft makes him a spirit, its card type sure is not spirit anyway. Do you get to pick fight with strength or craft before you can send him to another player?
I never got to fight the Lord as the Priest, Exorcist or Devil's Minion, so i don't know if abilities against spirits work, but i confirm the Bane Sword does not work against Cerberus when fighting with craft...Your idea is good but is it a legal move?
It was a rather close game tho, the AI kept attacking me from the start because I had found the Orb Of Knowledge(the AI is mad for that object). When I finally decided to go to inner region (with risky stats of 10 Str/9 Craft) the AI Knight mayde a mad rush for the centre too. That was something I never saw an AI do before. So the knight entered an I was stalled at the Dice With Death space. He then attacked me with stats (10str/11 craft). I was lucky on the roll and took his talisman. The knight went back to the middle region after that, and I won the game.
Looks like I did find a bug then. Here's exactly what happened:
Draw Lord of the Pit
Only available button is Encounter, so do so
UI window opens, choose to Fight with Craft (I was going to do this since I had the Bane Sword, and wanted to see if the Bane Sword counted just as Alpro was checking)
Before the actual fight started, I saw I had the Send Spirit button available, and did so to fire him off to the Troll. (So I couldn't check the Bane Sword).
Troll encountered him and the fight immediately started using Craft - the Troll had no UI window to choose a Strength option.
Troll goes splat and loses a life.
So, if LotP and Cerberus aren't technically turned into Spirits when craft fights are selected, that means the Devil's Minion ability isn't checking to see if the encounter is truly with a Spirit, it just checks if it's a craft fight and assumes it must be a Spirit (so long as it isn't another character, presumably).
I've just put Cerberus into play in my second Devil's Minion run-through, but I'm alone in the middle region for the moment. We'll see if I can duplicate this with him if I get the chance later.
