*Talisman: Origins and Talisman: Digital Edition*
What's the difference between Talisman: Origins and Talisman: Digital Edition? Other than a vast amount of DLC ? Is that it? The DLC offerings?
I've recently played both and they seem nearly identical. And boy I feel like I'm losing at them at every attempt. Is that a normal thing too when starting out as a newbie?
And one more thing. Since I'm very interested in advancing in the DLC? Would it be most cost effective to just purchase the "TALISMAN: DIGITAL EDITION - 40TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION"? Covering nearly all DLC, keeping in mind that I most likely will be playing this in single player mode 99% of the time. Thanks to anyone in advance for taking the time to help me out as a beginning player.

Talisman: Digital Edition is the digital edition of Talisman the board game. You can play offline with bots, or you can play online with real players. It has all the expansions of the board game + some expansions that are digital exclusive. Their cost model is to bring the expansions in DLCs, that is why you have plenty of them - not only there is a sheer amount of expansions (about 9 or 10), but also there are individual characters that can be bought too, as well as Legendary Decks that are meaner variants of some Adventure Decks.

Talisman: Origins is a single-player standalone of Talisman: Digital Edition. It features scenarios where you must accomplish things in the Talisman board. You cannot play with others online in Talisman: Origins, it's really just single player.

Yes it's normal to lose as a newbie. The game is unforgiving. In the case of the Digital Edition I would say that the game is more about the character progression itself more than winning. In the case of Talisman: Origins perhaps some scenarios are too hard for newbies? I haven't played that one much so I can't really tell.

I think it has to be cost effective, it would be weird for a collection to cost more than buying each individual DLC. The expansions are big game changers, it makes the game more complex and more interesting. Back when I was myself a newbie, I did not get the appeal of Talisman as the base board itself is not that interesting. I decided to buy a DLC collection on a whim after reading reviews, I did not regret it, I really got hooked.

Perhaps you can watch some youtube videos of people explaining some of the expansions to see if it would be of interest to you. Or watch videos of people playing with expansions to see what it looks like. Highland, City and Dungeon expansions are very interesting for a newbie.

Thank you for explaining everything. I forgot about the ability to check the YouTube videos. That's a great suggestion.
