Worth buying at 2024-03?
On sale atm.

- If yes, what to buy?

- Is single player feasible if the net fails?

So you can always download it, try out some of the DLC with friends thanks to DLC sharing in online matches and go from there!

Yeah, I was also looking for a "Talisman buying guide". The base game is super cheap, but the DLC is confusing and I'm not sure if buying the Season pass and one of the dynamic bundles will give me duplicate content. What's the cheapest way to get everything, and should I buy the base game to try it out?

I've only played Single Player so far, if it helps

Yes, me and my friends play every week religiously. It's a great game...more fun with friends to stab you in the back. ;-)

What DLC would you recommend buying, and in what bundle?

Yes Talisman single player is good. Maybe a struggle to find players online, and if you do they have alot going on game board wise! If you are looking for DLC, The Highlands, The Dungeon expansions are good board wise. Pack wise, Frostmarch, Blood Moon, The Sacred pool and The Reaper are good. Maybe not all at once though! lol. If it is on sale buy it and give a chance, Happy D&D'ing :) P.S This is just a personnel opinion and will never stand up in a court of law.

Sorry for the delayed response. When it's on sale, the Season's Pass buys them all and it's a hell of a deal.

But for my money, the Reaper, the Blood Moon, the Highlands and the Dungeon are must haves.

We never play with all of the DLC though...that's just too much. We like to mix and match DLC each play-through to keep the game unpredictable and fresh.

Alright then, I'll wishlist a random piece of DLC for the next sale, which should be the Spring Sale in two days.

alot of it depends on your game style and/or how hard you want to make the overall game. if you just want more "land" on your board with only a little increase in difficulty, then you want the corner pieces; Highlands, Dungeon, City, and maybe Woodlands (if you don't mind the dark fate mechanic and cards).

The reaper is a fun little addition that doesn't really change much (and with all the 1s you will be rolling, he will move often)

Extra characters are fun, some are relatively OP if played to their strengths.

I picked up the Sacred Pool for the mounts, I might still get Firelands and the frozen one, but even if you get all the DLCs you probably won't want to use them all at the same time in one game session.

City, Dungeon, and Highlands are the most straightforward expansions. They don't introduce new rules or game mechanics or anything, just some new characters and additional board areas to explore and exploit.

Other expansions feature new rules or new mechanics, some of which may not be to your liking. The Harbinger features an "end of the world" mechanic, Cataclysm completely revamps the board and introduces "denizens" and "remnants", Clockwork Kingdom has inventions, and so on.
I notice that the 40th Anniversary Collection is $4 CAD cheaper than the Season Pass. Do they contain all the same content? I don't want to have to go line by line comparing every item in each bundle like I once did for Company of Heroes 2 bundles.
Hi IGV,

Depending on which expansions you have in play and what rules you use the AI can provide acceptable opposition. You can give them Runestone boosters if you feel over powered but Firelands, Dragon, and Harbinger expansions together with an open Woodlands and active dark fate are tough enough to make you repeatedly scum load.

I'd buy the 40th anniversary edition. It's the cheapest way to buy most worthwhile parts of the game. Learn to play with one expansion - I'd start Highlands, Frostmarch, City - and play with that until you get comfortable then add a single expansion. I'd leave Firelands, Dragon, Cataclysm, and Harbinger to the end in that order. And don't play with any Ancient Beasts active unless you are playing against humans and you're a masochist.

S.x.

P.S. As soon as you can deactivate the Crown of Command ending. It's probably the worst ending in the game.

Talisman is the thing most close to live combat-oriented D&D session which a person without geek friends can get.
The game + Season Pass + the only character which IIRC is NOT included into a Season Pass (due to belonging to charity event) will have you covered for YEARS.

I'm willing to host with all dlc if you can get a lobby together so you can try them out, though I wouldn't be actively playing.

you can single player it, if you live with ppl you can offline play together. kinda sucks if yas have spells tho looking at the same screen and passing mouse around.
It is best online with people on voice.
If one person has the dlcs (does not have to be host) then the host can still use them even if host doesn't have all dlcs, you just have to turn them on every time the one with dlcs joins your game

Season pass has most things atm but not all dlcs. Some DLCS were brought in later. (Fanatical has steam key for season pass on sale for like 20 bucks at the moment)
I have a group of friends who normally play on voice (discord) with a few different hosts who set games up differently. who own all dlcs.
Sometimes I like to make death boards, with few dlcs sometimes with many dlcs. we also don't mind if someone takes a little longer in their turns to read cards if they don't know what the cards say/do. Not everyone has memorised everything. but if you looking at buying they do have a free to play dlc which changes weekly, or you are welcome to join one of my games, we are also happy to answer questions for new players.
