Pets & Potions - Choosing vs Random Draw?
In another topic (http://steamcommunity.com/app/247000/discussions/0/412447331648611486/) I found this:

This makes me fear Nomad plans to have players in all instances draw random potions/pets which I think is not correct.

The rules for the City expansion say this:
"If an encounter allows a character to gain or take a card from the Potion, Pet, or Wanted Poster deck for free, he must draw the top card of the deck."
Now, this rule only covers getting something for free. What about cards like "Trading Day" or "Black Market" that allow you to purchase/buy 1 card from any shop deck? My interpretation would be that those 2 cards would allow you to choose which pet or potion you get. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

(The Wishing Well might be debatable since even though it says "Take 1 card from any shop deck for free", you do have to pay 1 gold up front to use the WW.)

Even if a character gets to pay Gold for a card from the Potions or Pets deck I don't think that this normally means that that character can choose which ever Potion or Pet they want. I think it should still be the top Potion or the top Pet card from the respective deck, normally speaking. It doesn't say in the Rules to the best of my knowledge that a player can normally choose from the Potion or Pet decks what ever they want if they make a purchase from these decks.

Pet and Potion decks are randomized. When buying a card from them normally, in their shop, you draw a random card. The rules specify that even if the card is taken for free, it will still be random -- it doesn't specify this for buying since that's already the default mode.

I think the cards like black market should allow taking w/e pet card you want. Chances of getting black market pretty low anyways
