Then I would only have these house rules on:
-random characters;
-Talisman Bloodbath (BB for short);
For the alternate ending, it wouldn't matter which one you'd choose, since both have easier and harder endings.
No Talisman bloodbath also often makes game longer, since when you die you start again.
If players decide that they will not use shortcuts, in terms of arknell, feathers or CoC releport from Lord of the Dungeon, and everyone commits to full inner region route, that decision will make the game fun, tough and longer. If you combine that choice, with Gauntlet ending, that is probably the toughest game ending possible.
You could also select characters instead of random, and choose only the weakest characters. The weakest of all is Devil's Minion (agree?), but I think others like Minstrel, Knight, Goblin Shaman and Spy would do. A Gauntlet ending with these characters, and a no teleporting in inner region rule, would be my version of the toughest, longest and most fun challenge game
with a hidden ending (assuming you pick all the good ones) you have to be prepared for a craft 12 fight (demon lord) or a strength 12 fight (ice queen or eagle kiing) or even a tougher fight needing both craft and strength (battle royale). the uncertainty of what type of ending you might have to face forces you to be prepared for any of it which means by the time youre ready the inner region spaces are trivial (and thus using shortcuts is no great advantage). Heck if you can beat the LoD with a roll of 8+ you probably could have started your inner regeion run much sooner.
gauntlet can be deadly or it could provide you with several points in str or craft worth of trade ins as you kill your way to the center. and then the center could be an easy fight or even no fight. and thats assuming you dont use certain city pets to negate the nether cards altogether.
bloodbath (and reaper) make for harder games (the ai will win more with these settings) but its also a faster game. the real utility of the shortcuts is not to avoid the difficulty of the inner region but rather to avoid the need for a talisman. and in bloodbath talismans are hard to come by. so if you want a long fun game where the shortcuts arent such a big deal, dont play bloodbath.
I have an other questions: how can me and my friend make a team vs the IA? I mean.. We can travel, fight and make dungeon together like in d&d?
so multiplayer will become 2v2's where each team is rushing for a misfortune combo? imo this is a good thing as it will precipitate a demand to change that bs.
To make it extra fun you could choose the weakest Devil's Minion to try to crown supported by say, Sprite.
In which order I should approach the extra content? For example: I'm in the "external region", everything ok. Then I been in the dungeon and I die, I try to go there again to get all my stuff and I die again.. Then I just give up and I been in the bottom left one (with a lot of rock but I can't remember the name) and I die again :(
So I try to go to the city and I just spend a lot of gold... So, which one I should approach first?
Second question: there is a Best character??
Thanks again for the answer!!
Central board (outer/middle regiins) - low risk, low reward. Safe option but slow progress. Good for stats at 2-3
Highlands board (your rocky one) - medium risk medium reward. Good for stats 3-8. You will find lots of 3-5 point enemies, the most frequent good items, and ok followers, and it is the best place to farm money for city. If you can get close to the stream there is a place to recover health, fate and gain a spell. This is the board where you are likely to build your character fastest in stats and in good and equipment. You can do that until uou take on 8 point Eagle King Boss and teleport to alchemist to trade gems for gold ahead of city run. The other goal here is that there are four cool treasures you can gain randomly by beating the Eagle King. One of them is the Arknell, one of only two items (see dungeon) that allow you to skip the Inner Region and teleport to the crown, if hou get past its door/portal of power.
City - Only good with gold. Main reason for city is to become a spellcaster by buying a book (5gp) or mega warrior with flail (add two dice in battle, 6gp), and to buy cool pets (from the meh to the awesome, based on luck) and cool objects. Some cool deck cards too, or terrifying, where hou can spend 3gp to take 3 lives from other players. Also there is a teleport space oto anywhere on central board. Good for any stats, few monstrs (some, but least common), good with gold, not much point without.
Dungeon - toughest board, lots of monsters 5-8 points strong, and hard to heal. High risk low reward, except for Boss. Some good items in deck, but not many, high in monsters and spirits. But if you can beat the final 12 point Lord of Dungeon, you get a supertreasure. Also, if you can beat him by 8 points or more, you skip the inner regiin and go straight to the crown, so this is one popular route to win the game. One of the treasures, the cloak of feathers, also allows you to teleport to the crown, if you can get yourself past the door to the Inner Region.
Hope that helps!
As for best character: Sprite and Warlock are best spellcasters. Leprechaun, Alchemist and Merchant can get the money to tool up in city and become very powerful fast. Assassin and Ninja are best fighters, although Ninja has no followers. The Witch has the best movement, which can be very effective. Others too can be very powerful, but require skill to play to their capacity, and can be most fun. And then there are people who choose based on looks or fun factor powers, rather than raw might.
Suuuuper thanks for your answer!! It was really helpful!
This bord game is amazing! We spent hours on it this weekand!!
And now one more question hehe:
We face a semigod that offer us one spell from the deck: just because we didn't want to read ALL the spell we choose the spell that steal fate from other player (one gambler has 9). But wich spell is the best? I'm shure there are some really powerful that everyone want to have!! :D
Many thanks again for your time!
Where I can buy a book for the spellcaster or the "megaworrior extra dice"? Did you remember which shop I should visit to get this object?
Sorry if I make a lot of question but apparently (so sad to say because the game is really good) this game is not so popular and I can't find some guide online or video on YouTube in eng..
It's a game to explore card by card, square by square haha!
