How to save an online game.
As I keep seeing a few posts asking how to save an online game I thought I would throw my two pence into the ring.

My group of friends have a couple of games going depending on who is available and have found a way to back up the saves.

It is a manual process and requires everyone in the group to do this.

Way to do it is once the game has been exited at the same point, all players go to the App Data folder and find the folder called saved_game within the Talisman folder - path here:

"AppData\Roaming\Nomad Games\Talisman\saved_game"

In this folder is a few files - 76561198136689751.ff1 & 76561198136689751.local and 3 TCAT files. You want to save these somewhere.

When you come back to playing with the same group again (if you have started another game since then) you want to add these files back into the saved_game folder.

You will then be able to all resume the game you were playing.

I have not been able to test if one player backs it up and then sends the other players the file in case they do not have one, or whether if one person backs it up if they can steam invite some to join the game.

I've only skim-read the topic, but for this part you might want to look into an app called WinMerge. It compares if files are identical or different, and can even highlight differences in case the files are simple-encoding text. You'd definitely be able to share files if identical, but other than that it depends I guess.

Good you looked into the topic though, someone sure will benefit from this.

That’s a good shout actually. The file types are a tad odd but I will look into them and play around. If I keep racking up the hours I’ll make some add on that does it for you.
