Shortest game in DE : 30 minutes. Winner Takes All ending, someone took Martyr, and got lucky enough to get a Teleport.
Longest was about 8 hours. Was one of my first games. Only had base game with a couple of the smaller expansions (no extra board space). The AI made it to the Crown of Command first. My problem was, I had no Talisman yet, and a Warlock Quest that required me to take a life from another player. Also, the House Rule to be able to switch Warlock Quests was disabled, so I was stuck with no way to reach the Crown myself. Between the AI just getting bad rolls, and my ability to regenerate life through various methods, it took me about 6 1/2 hours to finally die. I almost called it a stalemate several times, but decided to see if the AI could actually finish me off.
Rare but still happen from time to time.
Round 1 - Landed on the Ruins and drew the Sword of Truth and the Magic Wand. My first spell drawn was Random which I proceeded to cast on the Dark Cultist. Nothing happened to her bit the next spell I drew was Enchanted Blade.
Round 2 - Cast Enchanted Blade on the Sword of Truth, drew "Twist of Fate" as my next spell and then moved to a space drawing a Dragon. Slew the Dragon and then gained a Strength. During this turn, the Tavern Maid stopped by and "offered" me a drink which allowed me to draw the Potion of Strength. I drank it and used "Twist of Fate" to ensure I gained 2 strength. "Twist of Fate" was replaced by "Immobility" which I cast on the Dark Cultist at the start of her turn. (I really don't like the Dark Cultist) "Immobility" was replaced by the spell "Craft."
Round 3 - Cast "Craft" at the beginning of my turn and then drew the spell "Weakness." Drew the card 2 Bags of Gold which was nice but turned out to be critical for the win on Round 5.
Round 4 - Landed on the drawn Ogre, who had beaten up the Tavern Maid during her turn. Between my Secret Strike and the Sword of Truth, the battle was no contest and the Tavern Maid was avenged.
During Round 4, the Elf drew Portent and I drew the Quest Card "Roll One Die to Accept a Quest" and rolled a 6 - Discard 2 gold. I was then teleported to the Warlock's Cave and drew "The Magic Door" as my Quest Reward. Before the round was over, the Warrior wandered into the Highlands and drew "Ymir's Glow" which caused me to draw "Marked for Glory" as my second spell.
Round 5 - Figuring I would have a chance to at least get a cool Treasure Reward, I used "The Magic Door" to teleport to the "Treasure Chamber" in the Dungeon to do battle with "The Lord of Darkness." I first used my Secret Strike ability and then cast both "Weakness" and "Marked for Glory" before starting battle. (My spell draw for the Wand was not memorable as it was nothing I could use at that point.) I rolled a 1 for my combat roll and the Lord of Darkness rolled a 5, reduced to a 4 for Daylight. I used the "Sword of Truth" to change my roll to a 6 and I added 6 points to the roll with the "Marked for Glory." This brought the combat scores to 19 for me and 10 for the Lord of Darkness. I grabbed the Bag of Holding, even though I was going to the Crown of Command, teleported to the Crown of Command to find the Ending Judgement day. Between my roll of a 5 and the judgment of enough of the AI players, I was judged worthy and won the game.
And what kind of bug would that be?
Ghoul lost one life to a hobgoblin. I had a combination of lucky rolls (plus my fate re-rolls) to land on the same square and assassinate it three times. YAY!
Not sure what my longest game was, but the very first time i won took an extremely long time as the AI character gained the poltergeist follower and was next to a healer square for ages and kept replenishing lives every other turn....
I play with no respawns, so.
Anyway, good tip about the No Contest achievement. In fact, I just managed to do it.
Is there a source somewhere with more tips about achievements?
Some of them do seem preposterously specific...
