Looking for a strategy guide
Making my own guide would take a long time given that I would have to test each and every character with different strategies and different combinations of expansions, so I was wondering if anyone else has already made a strategy guide to save myself the trouble.

Like you said yourself there is a lot to cover. No one really did it extensively so far.
There was a character guide that came close to that, but it's not there anymore.

I am in the process of making the ultimate guide of ultimate destiny, but it will be a few months until it is finished. The fun of the game is finding out the good strategy for yourself, though.

And by then a new expansion will have been released with new mechanics and characters that potentially change the balance of everything.

The modularity of the game is why it's so damn hard. Easiest thing to do would be to note some generalities for people to figure out strategies for themselves, if anyone wants to do that.

I believe a proper guide would have to do it starting from 0 expansion, and then gradually introducing the expansions and what they change in terms of strategies, characters and spells included.

For instance, at first the elf could be described as weaker than most - and when you introduce woodlands, you write that the Elf becomes more powerful since he can use his ability in the Woodlands.

What is hard is that you also have to cover how the strategies change when you play with Sudden Death and/or Bloodbath as well as cover some endings.

I had started to do it but i gave up once i started my PhD. Maybe I will come back into it one day. I believe the current version is too long and could use a lot of fleshing out. And I do not introduce any expansion yet.

You'd be surprised at how much time there is in a day. Small bits and pieces where you're momentarily doing nothing. Maybe you're waiting in line somewhere. Maybe you're spacing out for a bit. Or you're walking somewhere for a few minutes. There is always time. That's why I always had a notepad with me when I went to university. To scribble off thoughts wherever I could. There is always time.

That is what I am looking for.

I would call it tedious rather than difficult. I would say alternative house rules are of a low priority to cover in a strategy guide, I could do without them.

The problem is that certain combinations of expansions change the dynamics of the game quite heavily. So you can't just 'add expansions' and just keep on going. You also have to cover what changes if you have certain often-used combinations that omit certain expansions and keep others.

This is implied, though. Hence why the strategy guide would take long to make.

When you organize a chorus, go out with friends, work during most of the day for the PhD, reply to forums, help people in programming forums too, I assure you time is very short. When I come home I just put my brain in a closet and relax. I just don't have the energy to write any significant stuff.

There is always time in between the cracks.

In general, I would advise to introduce expansions gradually.

I think it's best to play with one or two small expansions and no more than one corner board expansion at once.

Add too much and things may get cluttered.
You can also opt to play with just the characters of an expansion without the extra cards.

Normally all the latest rules, for every map and expansion are updated here: https://www.nomadgames.co.uk/talisman-digital-edition-manual-uk

A manual of rules is not a strategy guide.
