The Lost Realms & The Realms Untravelled
Jon New (Talismanisland), lead designer of the Nether Realms and Deep Realms expansions for Talisman 4th Edition, has now made available the Lost Realms and Realms Untravelled unofficial expansions for download and printing! Talisman Island - Lost Realms[www.talismanisland.com]

This community driven expansion spearheaded by Jon completes the final gap opposite the Deep Realms, in the space between the Highlands and the Woodlands. The Realms Untravelled is an expansion for expansions, as it adds additional cards and 3 Alternative Endings for use with Nether Realms, Deep Realms and Lost Realms. Additionally, it contains a rulesheet that adds some Alternative Rules for use with the Nether and Deep Realms.

Links to the FFG forum discussion where the Lost Realms development took place can be found on the above linked page, along with earlier design blog posts by Jon concerning the projects, and information for Nomad Games live streaming for charity over this weekend as well.

Now we just need to put a bug in the ears of the Nomad team members and see if they will, one day, create a digital version of this! :)

I would love to see all of this come with the Deep Realms expansion. The extra cards for Nether Realm are really nice!

Nomad began this digital edition with what appeared to be very strict adherence to the rules. Even when they sucked. This may be great for purists, but who honestly plays pure Talisman without expansions or house rules? This meant that, being a true adaptation, we had to deal with all of the nasty parts of Talisman. But I think this misses the point of having a digital edition. With digital, we can incorporate house rules and unofficial expansions, and clean up some of the dirty bits deep down in Talisman's rules. Thankfully, Nomad has begun to budge on the purist stance; for example, optionally removing the werewolf piece from Bloodmoon.

I would love to see the digital edition be the go to place for all things Talisman: official, unofficial, houserule, or mod. But I'm sure there are licensing issues, software framework issues, and I'm sure someone would take a beef against this not being 'pure'. I enjoy DE alot, but the issues are becoming a problem, and I may cut my losses now. I'd gladly shell out $20-30 for a new PC version of Talisman that started over with the PC in mind (no mobile limitations), 64-bit, mod support, proper AI, and a UI/graphics overhaul. Talisman:DE right now feels like Blood Bowl Chaos Edition - it's still a great game at it's core, but it's a little ugly both on the surface and underneath. We need a Blood Bowl 2-type makeover for Talisman, and I wouldn't even complain about DLC expansions.

In reality I'm sure Games Workshop (Who would have to give it's approval) would much rather concentrate on their new upcoming 5th Edition than worry about the discontinued 4th. Pity this didn't get created earlier, but at least we have it for the physical game.

Would be great to hear from Nomad if only to let us know if they are able to or not if they so choose?

It would be amazing if the Lost Realms and Realms Untraveled made it into the Digital Edition.
