The Firelands Released!
The Firelands expansion has been added. Those who forged the Crown have returned! This expansion adds 81 new Adventure Cards, 19 new Spell Cards, 19 Terrain Cards, 3 Alternative Ending Cards, 4 new character cards and 34 firelands tokens representing the expanding conquest of the Ifrit across the land.

There's a few new features and tweaks added;

- New house rule added - 'No Werewolf' allows you to switch the Werewolf NPC from The Blood moon off.
- Two new levels of zoom added - extreme close-up and far out. Woah!
- Changed how cards on a space are presented, making it easier to see each card when there are lots of cards on a space.

We’ll be publishing a blog describing The Firelands expansion and its new rules on our website[nomadgames.co.uk] in the next few days.

EDIT: For those who are unaware, typically updates render older saves redundant as the code that those old saves ran on has been updated/deleted/replaced and so the latest version of the game will be unable to run them. If you wish to see any of the old saves through then you will have to complete them before you update.

Thanks for the new expansion. Playing it is a daily pleasure.
But current version also requires too long time to play with my friends. As the solution of this problem, the original FFG board game provides the following two ALTERNATIVE RULES FOR FASTER PLAY house rules in the core rulebook. Please consider implementing these house rules as options in the Digital Edition.

The first house rule is Strength and Craft. It requires only five or six point of trophies to gain a point of Strength or Craft.
The other one is Starting Bonus. It allows each player to take one bonus
Strength or Craft (his choice) at the start of the game.
Use the Runestones in the House Rules, they cover these particular faster play options.

Thanks for the new expansion - it's clear a lot of work went into fixing bugs as well.

New features I really do like:
  • hover over space shows its contents,
  • card images on spaces rotate when there are multiple cards.

    New 'features' I do not like:
  • "random" decks seem to reset to original state (order) when restarting a saved game (Pets, Potions, Treasure);
  • the log loses all history when restarting a saved game,
  • the log does not report all card actions that should be visible to all players
  • cards that should be usable "at any time" according to the text, can only be used during a characters turn - e.g., Spell Scrolls, certain Potions (noticed with Unstable Potion, because it appeared near top of potion deck after each restart)
  • it seems that certain "effects" are reset when restarting games - I noticed, but failed to record because was trying to finish a game before bed time - I will provide update if or when I notice what "effects" are affected.

    New features I would like:
  • ability to [always select "alternative endings" that are/are not available, even when one does NOT chose visible or invisible endings.
  • ability to exclude specific endings
  • ability to save "default" house rules

    Longstanding issue that became more obvious:
  • Unable to view top card of each discard deck. This critically affects - no, impedes - decision making when playing (and playing against) characters with ability to choose from them. *Suggestion - apply the slick new "hover" feature for card decks to show the top card of the associated discard deck (and perhaps for characters who should be able to always see the top card of certain decks - the the top of the "draw" deck.
  • Unable to save House Rules & Alternative Settings - except by immediately starting a new game to preserve the settings established for a just-completed game

I noticed when playing as the Warlord, there was never any option to feed a conscripted follower instead of losing a life like noted on the character card =/

Two bugs noted:

1) Started my turn as the Dervish on the Temple. The Ifrit Sultan was next to me on the Woods space. Turn starts with the Sultan offering me the choice of putting a Fire token on the space of burning a card. I choose to burn the Poltergeist follower. Turn then ends without allowing me to take any further actions - no die roll or movement, no space encounter.

2) Still as the Dervish I start on the Hidden Valley and roll a 5. Since I acquired the Bound Ifrit last turn I want to use his power to destroy the Ifrit Sultan on the Woods, so I move there. Knowing that the timing on when you may use some cards has been a thorny issue in this game since the beginning I pay very close attention to when to use the Ifrit. His ability NEVER becomes active and I wind up having to fight the Sultan normally.

Apparently City Cards are coming out in the same order? This was reported to myself by a player in Talisman Cup 7.

Ah, OK. I was thinking Bound Ifrit *destroyed* Adventure cards, not *burned* them.

So any news when you will finally release a hotfix, so that we can start playing this game again without beeing disappointed due the huge bug wave?

If you'll use Royal Masons to build smth on the Mountain Pass space (after encountering it, at least), you'll stuck there forever without options to move out unless someone else will use spell / effect to move you.

The two games I've started with just the base game and the Firelands have reached the point where, after the Sultan and Sultana come into play, everybody dies. And regenerated characters die even quicker thanks to all of the fire tokens spread around the board.

Where there was a chance to remove the Sultan with a Destruction spell, the AI characters made really stupid choices, going after the Stream of Life or Fountain of Knowledge instead, which are no threat at all.

to play firelands-you really need to have more regions-as a safety place to go into, and even with them it can get difficult, i honestly don't think this expansion was ever meant to be played alone-it is just way too difficult.

I kind of enjoy base/Firelands only. Puts my wife and I on more even ground with the AI because even making optimal decisions can still go really poorly for you. :p
