Various Feedback (mostly points of frustration)
I've enjoyed my time playing so far, and there is a TON I really like about the game, but there is a lot of feedback I'd like to pass on. I'm probably just gonna ramble a bit as things come to me so sorry if its a little all over the place. anyway, without further ado (and in no particular order) I'm just gonna list some things:

1. Monsters: this is all over the place. monsters can spot you from long distances and often there are multiple in a relatively small area. this often leads to having 2-3 or more small/medium sized enemies on you at once, and the game is CLEARLY not built for that. this also happens when you are fighting the tougher large named bosses which is just PAIN. not to mention almost anything will clap your cheeks early on until you upgrade your gear.

2. Knockdown recovery. Please for the love of god either add this to base game or make it a still upgrade, but there NEEDS to be a knockdown recovery ability. make it cost a lot of stamina or something if you must, but we should be able to press the dodge button to recover early from getting blasted into the sky.

3. Monster Tracking PLEASE. maybe I just havent figured this out yet, but when I'm attacking an adult/elder/ancient and it "moves to a new area" I don't want to spend the next 20 minutes gliding around hoping to find it only for it to be in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ spot with like 4 others medium monsters around that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me. Honestly, just remove this feature. I get that you are trying to mimic the monster hunter vibes, but even MH the monsters actually RUN/FLY to a new zone and you can track them with paintballs/watch where they go. this whole teleporting away ♥♥♥♥ just sucks and makes no damn sense.

4. Gear progression. Once you can kill a scaleback, you can almost totally ignore the primitive/primal armor/weapons as they are just way worse. However, after committing Genocide on the entire Scaleback population so I could upgrade my gear, I was devastated when I killed my first Thunderhorn and the Hammer I was currently using was literally more than 2x stronger than the Thunderhorn version. like I know it will be much better once more upgraded, but damn just feels bad. I just unlocked this weapon and can't even properly use it until I upgrade it like 4 more times. wtf. the fact you can practically skip the first two tiers of gear but then feel stuck on Scaleback for an eternity. Basically, the early tiers need to be MORE viable, and the late tiers past Scaleback need to be buffed at their base where the player can use them when they get them. if we consider Scaleback Tier 3. then the highest upgraded tier 3 gear should be equal to or less than the very first Tier 4 gear

5. Carving monsters. One of my biggest complaints. Why do I have to hit specific parts of a DEAD monster just to start getting carves. please just make the whole hitbox viable, the game is already ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ janky enough as it is. I don't need to be jump slashing just cause a body fell at an odd angle and now the head which is the only part I can carve with the weapon I'm using is up in the sky or underground/in a rock. literally just make the whole carcass a viable spot to carve please please please

6. Tribe. I appreciate what the idea for the tribe is but honestly, it sucks HARD. limited portals + Workers taking forever to complete a single task + the jank of this game = such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain. Not to mention the little work stations you build all over constantly bugging out (I'll get to this later). The AI workers should be assigned to certain jobs in the base, and they should just never be out on the field in my opinion. It sucks cause clearly a lot of elements of the game have been designed around the workers, but its all just bad bad bad. You can still have the workers need to process bigger materials into smaller ones, but give the player the agency to put them into the portal to be processed AT THE BASE, not out in the wild.

7. AI processing tables. these just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck. they suck so hard its part of the worst aspects of the game in my opinion, everything around the workers is just BAD. The monster harvesting table needs to have its viable radius expanded a ton, I shouldn't have to try to find a perfect spot to build one while dealing with the janky ass hitboxes of a corpse. The material processing benches will bug out where they only accept 1 RESOURCE and then it will just stop crafting. now I know this is a bug or something but MAN does it feel bad breaking like 10 trees and then barely getting any wood out of them. I've had to build 1 Sawmill PER TREE just to get any value out of it. I still say these should be built IN BASE and workers be assigned to them to do the processing.

8. The skill tree. Please just remove the travel skills, make all of them part of the base game. it sucks moving around the map without them, but it sucks even more dedicating skill points to them instead of to raw stat boost/combat boosts. feels like the player is just being shackled and told we can unshackle ourselves at anytime at the cost of less stats.

9. Storage. Once again I feel this should just be removed, and if not removed then at least double how much storage you get per little building. Yes they don't cost much to craft, but then WHY do we have to craft them in the first place? its also wildly unbalanced as I end up putting down like 10+ monster part and food storages but only 1-2 of the other ones and they BARELY fill up. my base just looks cluttered as ♥♥♥♥ since I had to put all of them off in one corner and try to not have them spill out all over the place. not to mention each one that is placed down is ANOTHER asset the game has to try to load and render, which does effect optimization.

10. Optimization. This one is just general. the game runs smooth on medium settings but anything higher and loading into base or gliding fast starts hitting me with hard frames. one thing that doesnt help is the excessive storage units built at base and all the little processing tables I've had to place all over the map

11. the hanging bindsap pods. This is a nitpick, but these things are impossible to hit with the cleaversaw. Easy solution is to just make them a tether point or make their hitbox much bigger

12. The whistling sound during gliding is way too sharp and loud on the higher ends, please tune this down or give us an option in settings to reduce/remove the sfx

13. The music is too repetitive and constant. I just have music turned all the way down, but maybe there should be specific music for specific things. as in not the one track that plays virtually everywhere all the time. have music come on during combat, or when you are in the base. not just all the time

Anyway I really like the game, I played it for 9 straight hours lol, I just hope this feedback helps with understanding some of the pain points I've experienced. I hope this is helpful and doesn't come off too demanding or negative lol

That’s really detailed feedback… I kinda regret my purchase of this game yesterday… I saw the game review had improved from mostly negative at one stage to mostly positive.

But digging a little further I’m finding out even the positive reviews share common gameplay issues that can be classed as core to the gameplay.

Then I came across recent post by devs saying this 70% discount is their last ditch effort to continue developing the game… So if sales don’t improve the hint here is potentially abandonment?

Definitely looking less and less great noting ironically Valve has dev policy that early access should NOT be used as means of funding development.

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess#:~:text=Early%20Access%20is%20not%20meant,delivered%20at%20a%20future%20date.

What Early Access Is Not
Early Access is not a way to crowdfund development of your product.
You should not use Early Access solely to fund development. If you are counting on selling a specific number of units to complete your game, then you need to think carefully about what it would mean for you or your team if you don't sell that many units. Are you willing to continue developing the game without any sales? Are you willing to seek other forms of investment?

The processing tables do something?? I built both the lumber one near some chopped down trees and the stone one near a big stone, and neither did anything.

If I look at the tasks on the lumber station, it clearly says I can get wood out of the large logs, but nothing ever happens.

I also can't figure out what the well does. It says it provides water for other stations, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

The only processing station that seems to do anything for me is the monster parts one (and yeah, the range on it sucks). And half the time I'm trying to find a good spot for it, the placeholder will just disappear, and I have to exit build mode and re-enter it to get it back (so I can see where the heck I'm building it, and if it's actually in range of all the parts).

Late reply but yes, you build them then you bring the large unprocessed resources that say you can't portal them and drop them next to the table and it goes into a queue, but its Buffy as all ♥♥♥♥.

Also for things like the well, you place them down and place other crafting stations that NEED a well nearby around them. Very convoluted and silly, should just place a well down and it count for the whole island but whatever

These stations need to be loaded with the appropriate resources. For example, place those huge logs that you can’t put in the portal, drop them into the lumber processing station

In my experience they work for the first item and then cease working.

Load a single tree trunk in, the tribesman works on it and leaves, even with multiple others ready. Have to rebuild it entirely for each one.

I can confirm that the workers will work for the first item and stop working after that even if multiple logs, dungs, ores etc. are queued. Sometimes 1-2 days later it will work again if you load another item in the queue or after an eclipse
