WHERES THE UPDATES?
Q: Where's the updates?
A: I ran out of money and took a half year break to make this game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/583470/The_End_Is_Nigh/
Sven (the artist) similarly had to do some contract work.

Q: Why didn't you tell us?
A: The End is Nigh was under TOP SECRET DEVELOPMENT until last week

Q: If Bombernauts is "Basically done" why didn't you just release it?
A: There's like 4 people who regularly play Bombernauts. If we just called it released it'd get a player bump for like a week then die off again. We don't want that. You don't want that. There's some hope that raising my profile with The End is Nigh first will make press & youtubers actually pay attention to me when I send out a press release for Bombernauts

Q: Okay so WHEN
A: Once the end is out and any launch support duties on that are over I'm on Bombernauts again until its out. So idk probably about 2 months after the end comes out? I'll let you know when I know

Huh, thought I recognised the name from The End Is Nigh but I couldn't pin it down!

100% looking forward towards both The End Is Nigh and Bombernauts launch, hope waiting for after End is Nigh launches works out for Bombernauts (reason I stopped playing was low playerbase myself).

Wish you the best of luck with the launch of both games!!! :slimehappy:
Senpai noticed us xD

It's good to hear back from you folks. I wish you every success with this. I'd love to play this again, since this game is great fun.

update: post launch support for TEiN took longer than expected but is pretty much wrapped up at this point. gonna figure out what to do for bombernauts release soon. Don't expect too much out of the release patch other than some polishing of rough edges and a trailer or something. We'll see what we can afford to do though. I know you guys have waited a while and I wanna make sure its worth it.

So split screen out of the question then? If not, then maybe its a good idea to launch it again on switch(maybe it can find more succes there, if it supports splitscreen).

we've been pretty clear local multi isn't part of the design. if the game sold better so we could justify the 6 months or so worth of work it'd take to add it in we'd have considered it, but as of now the game *still* hasn't even earned back what I paid (out of pocket) to make it, so we can't really justify it...

Yeah, thanks for all the updates!! Shame it couldnt get more popular.

"people aren't buying my game because I won't put in the most-asked for feature because they aren't buying my game" k circular
Woulda bought it if it had it :/ it looks really fun but as you say like 4 people play so without good bots or local no reason to buy it

Sure it's circular reasoning, but what can he really do? He's already done tons of work on the game and since it isn't performing well, can't find the time to add in such a feature, assuming it does take that much time/effort/money to add it in.

I'll write an actual full postmortem once we flip the switch to released if you're interested in raw numbers and stuff

Why would local multiplayer take so much time? I know it would take a decent amount of work but can't you treat the other players like loopback clients to the server and then add a special condition for loopback clients where the screen zooms out, like super smash brothers?
TylerGlaiel  [developer] Nov 17, 2017 @ 10:14pm
because the game wasn't designed or coded with local multiplayer taken into consideration. the design doesn't work with "4 players 1 camera" so it'd need to be redesigned for local, or done as split screen (which is a technical challenge). code-wise a lot of the game references stuff like "me" and "my bombs" and "my robot" and "my color scheme", etc. It's everywhere, and a lot of work to track it all down to fix.

I don't like listing out all the reasons why cause they feel like small issues, but a lot of small issues together is a big issue, and I've made enough games to know how to estimate how long some things will take, and I know that collectively doing all that would take at least a few months (probably more), and bombernauts has sold so badly so far that even if it doubled our sales (or even if it made every wishlist buy it) it wouldn't be worth it (and I don't think it would even increase sales that much)

Its basically just done. I'm gonna pop an update that calls it released sometime before the end of the year. It won't add any new features or anything since the game's been feature complete since the last update anyway
