Make Lanterns a mess item
I was thinking that it would make sense if lanterns were made a mess item that needed to be removed before leaving.

Otherwise, some hapless fool will trip over the darn thing, fall, split their head open on the floor, and break the lantern, causing an explosion that damages some machinery.

Get the idea, devs? :P

im not sure but when i turned all lanterns off i got a higher score after punchout!
im not sure if this is true or not:)
broken lanterns are mess
maybe somewhere to put unused tnt and an empty box to put unused flares in=optional
if i was the inspector it seem a little too hazzardous to inspect the digsite:)

im not sure if burning intact ones count against us/eotm points but turning them off im sure i got a higher score but still im not entirely sure:)
if its true devs did something clever to the lanterns!
i also got a higher score when i burn spare sentry guns and spare bullet cardridges in robotics after reloading the guns sniffer cant smell some things:)
it seems lanterns might not be mess until one breaks one:)
im still not sure if leaving them on has a penalty or not or if they are company property while they are intact
i agree they should be mess like goo jars are but sniffer not smell it if it not broken
