Collectables keep disappearing from office

I have tried to get the "Bob" achievement for a long time, but sometimes the notes disappear from my office. What's the reason for this?

Are you just grabbing the notes then punching out? getting fired causes you to loose your stuff.
You have to do each map fully.

I have done all the maps I've done until this point over 100% with the help of map guides. I wonder if taking a longer break from the game refreshes the office somehow? Yesterday when I launched the game I only had two notes in my office, previously I had four.

Time should have nothing to do with it, the stuff in your office is stored in a seperate save file.
You could try restoring an older one of those files, and see if it brings back your items.
Goto, steamapps\common\viscera\saves\backup
In there you should find a bunch of "trophydatacollective.sav" files
You'll have to figure out the times you had your notes previously, and find the sav file with that date on it.
You can then copy the back up into the saves folder, delete the old trophydatacollective, and rename the copied backup so that you remove the numeric timestamp.
Then load up your game and check your office.
Just do that til you find a buckup with all the notes you had before.
