[Vulcan Affair DLC] Orbital weapon: bugged or intentional?
So the orbital weapon in this DLC can disintegrate anything it hits. Trouble is that half the time it just doesn't and sends whatever it's trying to hit flying elsewhere from the explosion; the same even goes for the beacon itself when using that to summon the beam. I'm just wondering if that was intentional or not.

A bit of both.

We didn't want the beam to be too useful without a distinct downside.
So sometimes it has trouble destroying everything. We felt this was an adequate balance for its power and left it to be slightly inefficient.

Is it normal for the beam weapon to set itself off (use it once from vendor)randomly it set itself off about 38 times before it stopped
It murdered me twice=what an awesome way to die on top of being eaten by sharks:)
It also put the radio and the bullet shells it was on top of outside the laser fence out of bounds
Took a few goes to acends the radio:)
Catastrophe and orbital banger achievements work fine so does complete map one:)

Vulcan map is awesome but something outside laggs me out
I disabled bloom and got greeted with the ghost of the punchout machine mixed with robot map like reflection burned into the screen=quick turn bloom back on=never see that again:)
My fps was low around 20 but every other map is 50-60 fps
(I do have a s#it PC)
Whatever it is it's like hydro hell when that map was released
If I open vulcan in the editor if I hide the outside layer the lag is gone
If I unhide that layer and hide all the other layers the lag returns?
Every other map ingame or editor is fine=no lag at all?
Could it be the laser fence material or a cubemap murdering my fps when looking towards it
Turn away n it's fine?
When I 1st started vulcan map I thought there was 20 security cameras instead of 5 or 6 lol:)
I didn't see any cameras n said hmm why it laggy?

God it looks good=really cool maps
Holy kismet=mmmmm kismet=cool toys:)

Also what's not for general use I want to adhock the missile silo to actually start a countdown and launch the rocket to send it to the moon with janitor/s onboard)
To mattinee the missile silo is a love story of mass destruction or discovery=should it be a mission to the moon or a nuclear explosion(it easy to turn rocket mesh into high yield super TNT to make a nuke that works) in jellystone park or self destruct the map ie=
You have 1 hour to clean your way to minimum safe distance?
(All the ingredients are there=mwahahaa:)
To mount the death ray to a UFO n mix that with orbital beam weapon is also very tempting to make a new controllable weapon as well as a nice abduction beam:)
Abducted by aliens then use the weapon and the abduction beam from inside the UFO to shoot it at other players while UFO flies around map:)
Can also mount weapons that work to security cameras that can also be attached to a UFO=player can aim and fire it manually:)
With those ingredients comes alien invasion maps independence Day movie style=fire the primary weapon:)
I guess the special items are off limits until later next year etc?
I wonder if sharks can fly=laser Sharknado:)

When I make a nuke in vcd I promise to let the janitor ride the bomb to its target=game over n get sent to office maybe:)
Everyone gonna use that rocket for space X launches in lots of new space maps as well as maps with a time limit:)
It would also be fun to adhock that amazing Mr burns style board room to press secret button to flip the stuff on the table into something else as well as transform the room into say a night club Moe's tavern style:)
Loved the trapdoors there's satisfaction in sending chairs and hopefully other players down the trap doors=wow it's really cool what you did to VCD
Where does the trapdoors lead to=shark pool or the incineration room or both etc???

Doesn't sound quite right.
It will however keep trying to destroy things outside the fence if they still live.
Not supposed to be targeting anything inside the perimeter except a live and activated Beacon.

Sounds like it could be the Volcano particles.
We shall have to investigate a bit.

Why, the sharks of course.
Definitely the smarter way to dispose of things on the Executive floor.
I never walked bins full of stuff down the lift and then to the shark pool.
Just used the hatches.

Yeah that's really cool disposal methods:)
N yeah orbital beam weapon used once from vendor decided it would randomly target everything including myself without using it again
It also randomly fixed itself until the next time lol
If I get time I'll look at volcano particles hide actual actor to see if it cures the fps:)
Freaking awesome game update guys:)

So is special drop items off limits till later on next year
But can use everything else in workshop maps?
It be so fun to animate the missile silo make a nuke n launch it:)
I not added any new stuff to my maps yet☺️
Not want to ruin the spoilers=not for general use topic not say anything yet

Eh... you can probably use them if you want.

Just add the usual mention of spoilers to your workshop item so people know.
Chances are, if your level uses Vulcan content, people have already bought Vulcan and likely played it before downloading your map.

Cool but yeah things that triggers achievements stay out of it:)
Unlike some who put all of bobs notes in Thier level
I'm sure it not too hard to make a fake but working orbital beam weapon fire as primary weapon on a UFO:)
It's fun playing with emitters matinee and sounds n volumes etc
Emulating TNT is a favourite:)
Also if one use that stuff make it look totally different
Vulcan map is awesome=none of this vulcan extension maps either that spoil things
I want people to play the vanilla maps and earn the achievements rightfully:)
Sharks and a working launchable nuke however are a must have:)
I'll probably use missile silo to send janitors to mars and the moon=vcd gets a space program=time to explore the solar system and clean it:)
It be fun to send the janitor to the international space station look out the window n see a round earth then in the ways of the machine gods it goes awry and space station burns up on re-entry:)
