Controller Not Working
I really don't see what is wrong, i've gone through the options and there isn't any activation option to enable my 360 controller. It used to work but now it doesn't, it works on every other game with controller support so it's not broken, any help please?

yeah its a weird bug after the update controller wont work in 32 bit VCD
it works fine in 64 bit VCD 32 bit and 64 bit standalones sr & sw
i have got it to work in 32 bit vcd by restarting the game 300 times through steam but i found that if i fully exit steam and start UDK.exe from 32 bit binaries folder the controller works fine
so i guess its a steam vs 32 bit VCD conflict of sorts
best to wait for a patch and in the meantime if pc can run 64 bit VCD play that one as xbox 360 controller works fine in 64 bit VCD:steamhappy:

i even tried deleting the UDKinput.ini file and even swapped it from an older copy of the game and it was same result=so its a steam vs vcd conflict since nothing wrong with the config file
nothing in log file either:)
if delete that file or even set it to read only the game makes a new one identicle to the deleted one
if i start the older copy of vcd the same result=fishy controller in 32 bit vcd so it has to be a problem with steam esp since steam update steam controller all the time and that new VR thearter thing in vcd steam properties might be interfering with something?
deleting the config folder and verify game cache did nothing to fix it either neither did a clean reinstall with no mods in it= i tried those too:)
how strange today it seems to have fixed itself controller working in 32 bit vcd also today port 7777 is unreachable yet it is open and returned a success from my port tester n today no servers to join usually theres heaps oh well mp will work tomorrow steam probly offline for maintenance
controller still works when it feels like it though something fishy with 32 bit vcd vs controller

Thank you for the quick responce, the 64x version just crashes on launch and starting from the .exe doesn't work for me either, i've kind of got used to mouse and keyboard but I'd prefer if you or someone else can help me find a way that fixes it for me just in case someone has the same problem. Thanks again.

yeah i have the same problem with the controller but 64 and 32 bit never crash on me:)
well looks like your pc is 32 bit so if just playing solo and not looking for achievements close steam go in 32 bit binaries folder for vcd start UDK.exe and the controller works fine or for the annoying solution start vcd from steam see if it works if it doesnt exit vcd and start it again and again until it feels like working (worked 3 times today for me after starting 32 bit vcd 50 times then it stop working again the next time i started 32 bit vcd)
when vcd got updated steam was also updated and i think steam broke the controller support in 32 bit vcd as it works fine when vcd is offline without steam running when it worked fine before vcd was updated with steam running:)
until its patched i just play 64 bit vcd as it works fine in that
devs are aware of the problem too so a patch be soon hopefully i hate my keyboard lol

it has to be a bug in steam i start 32 bit vcd just now and my controller is working if i exit and start vcd again it stop working=wtf
i might run windows update incase microsoft broke it as its weird xbox 360 controller works when it feels like it but its only 32 bit vcd main game thats effected the spinnoffs in 32 and 64 bit it works fine same with rooks keep so my controller isnt faulty also unplugging and pluging it back in 600 times does nothing but hear it connect and disconnect
vcd's multiplayer server is back up n running my server list is full again=sweet
i might check the steam beta forum for xbox 360 controller bug for other games n try n find out why it missbehave in 32 bit vcd after the games latest update esp since that new VR desktop thearter thing was added to vcd's steam properties that if disable it does nothing:)

When I said I tried the .exe way, that was the one in the 32x binary folder and yes, my PC is 32x although I can run some games at 64x, just not this one.

thats odd if 64 bit stuff works the 64 bit vcd should work too try starting 32 bit vcd from steam move the left stick on controller each time in vcd's menu if it works play vcd if it doesnt exit and restart vcd again and again until it works something is indeed strange with 32 bit vcd xbox 360 controller working when it wants to or just use the keyboard n mouse if cant start 64 bit vcd until 32 bit vcd gets a patch
i checked the steam beta forum lots of complaints about steam controller being detected as a gamepad so maybe its steam controller driver conflict with xbox controller(yes i dont have a steam controller)
did the xbox 360 controller work in vcd when steam wasnt running/offline???
if it didnt work in 32 bit vcd without steam running go in vcd's config folder and delete this file=
UDKInput.ini
then start vcd from steam n see if it works vcd will make a new UDKInput.ini
it definately works fine if steam isnt running and it is an annoying bug i hate using keyboard lol and i miss text to speech as that doesnt work in 64 bit vcd

I just closed steam and opened it from the .exe file and that suddenly works now but the controller still doesn't work and I can't find the UDKInput.ini file.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Viscera\UDKGame\Config
ini file is in that location if its missing then controller wont work at all
if ya delete that file the game makes a new one when ya start vcd
if thats the case delete config folder and verify game cache or delete viscera folder and verify game cache to reinstall vcd properly
verify game cache is totally useless if ya dont delete something 1st
backup saves folder 1st(to keep office collection) and backup a map and your mods files if you making a map in the editor
i already reinstalled vcd and controller still has issues in 32 bit vcd so a reinstall is useless controller works when it feels like it
xbox 360 controller is a wired one with usb cord on it like mine is(mine is microsoft xbox 360 controller for windows not xbox)=i dont think wireless ones work but i think there is a bluetooth driver for wireless controller on the net somewhere to make any xbox controller or ps3 controller work?

It's not letting me verify the game cache, it is just saying that I have to close down all tools and games to work but I had nothing but the preferences window open, is it required or can I just skip over it?

ahhh do you have AMD Raptr app installed little orange dinosoar on taskbar?
if you do the same thing happened to me a few days ago plays tv.exe wont stop starting itself even if its disabled on windows boot
to fix that open taskmanager startup tab disable plays tv and disable Raptr restart pc then it get rid of that annoying close down all tools and games message then it let ya verify game cache:)
youl have to verify the game cache if deleted something to fix it

i sent this to AMD and they replied but it didnt help so to fix plays tv if it gives greif uninstall plays tv=

hmm i might have to uninstall plays tv video recorder which is a part of AMD Raptr app that was installed with the install of my video card i disabled plays tv so it not load when windows boots and it starts itself anyway conflcting with vcd/steam might find a solution ccleaner might fix a broken registry key or something so yeah AMD software conflict preventing steam from updating or cant verify any game cache if that plays tv.exe is running=kill it in task manager then can update steam and verify game caches:)
something is wrong with Raptr after vcd and steam updated as plays tv starts itself even if its disabled on windows boot recording videos of vcd forever murdering my hdd space=had to delete 600 plays tv videos in the plays tv folder which was 750gb in size?
disable Raptr in task manager startup tab to fix that
looks like AMD still hasn't fixed Raptr yet:)
its midnight here tired hope thats whats wrong with steam refusing to verify game caches
good luck and the controller problem might get fixed in a steam or game update/patch

We've currently no idea why the controller stopped working for some people, but are investigating it and hope to find a solution soon.

last nights patch sort of fixed it but its still abit fishy
just start 32 bit vcd if it doesnt work exit and restart a few times then it works
but wierd its only 32 bit vcd that does it after the big update:)
SeriouslySpecific Jul 28, 2016 @ 8:00am
Hazah! It worked! I only launched it once and if it works once, it can work again. I don't mind constantly restarting to get the controller to work until there is a patch so thank you both, you have been very helpful.
A JANITOR Jul 28, 2016 @ 4:28pm
yeah thats good to hear now i know its not me going crazy esp if exactly same thing happens to you
i still have issues with mine even sometime if i start a map when its not working press escape and leave to return to the menu then it starts working again
its intermittant and weird as it only happens in 32 bit vcd
all the other games it works fine in 64 and 32 bit just the main games 32 bit has a controller gremlin for some weird reason since the big update:)
when it does turn itself back on it wont stop working until restart vcd again so thats the good thing about controller support with a mind of its own
its still the same even if try a clean install with no mods in it so mods are not the cause:)
