Unable to connect to multiplayer game

Whenever I click on my friends' names to join their game, I get a message that says "Connecting" that quickly fades away and nothing else happens. After a few seconds pass, I some times get a message saying that the connection was canceled as well. My friends can all join each other, but I can't join any of them.

To try to solve this issue, I have tried the following to no avail:
-Create firewall exceptions for ports 7777 and 7778
-Disable firewall altogether
-Reinstall the game
-Reinstall the game to a different hard drive
-Restart the computer
-Forward ports on router
-Use phone's internet to bypass router entirely

I've spent hours searching through the Steam discussions and the internet at large for any solution but haven't made the least bit of progress. Any help would be appreciated.

Make one in network and sharing centre in Ipv4 adaptor properties
Use the static Ipv4 address in forwarding rules in router=

In the inbound and outbound firewall rules add port 7777 and 27015
Set everything with UDK.exe and build with UDK and everything with Viscera in its name along with steam.exe to enabled and allow connection=
On my PC it was disabled by default=blocking the connection.

If have avast antivirus
Open that type firewall and press the Be Visible button
(Can press be hidden button when not playing VCD multiplayer)
Look for the remote play together thread and add the steam remote play together ports to windows firewall rules.

Google port test=doesn't work at all
Download simple port forwarding free version (no crapware)
Test the ports with simple portforwarding
It can also automatically port forward ones router if want to.

Set all of the games UDK.exe files to run as administrator comparability mode for windows 7

Unsubscribe or all sub to medical rust
As that causes every single map to fail to connect if host has it but client doesn't have it

If have soda factory unsubscribe and reinstall the game=soda factory broke the game

All features of the game work fine on my end
Remote play together
Remote play anywhere
Steam Link app and can play VCD on my phone
Friends
Lan
Internet
Steam server browser
Everything works fine

I have an ISP locked router too
Temporary Disable IPv6 adaptor in network and sharing centre shows heaps more servers to join too


Still not working
Get freinds to fix windows crappy 10
Microsoft broke windows firewall lol
Never disable windows firewall or avast antivirus or it won't work
Avast overrides windows broken defender=glad to disable that useless crap!
Above fix I been using for 6 years and it never stops working:)

If port 7777 won't work try port 27015
Open udkengine.ini with notepad and change port 7777 to 27015
If that doesn't work change it back and investigate other programs or antivirus firewall that could be blocking the connection

27015 doesn't work at all for me so maybe that port is broken or blocked in Australia
7777 works like a charm!
Both 32 bit &64 bit VCD work fine but for multiplayer I use the 32 bit VCD as text to speech works in chat
Doesn't matter if host is 32 bit or client 64 bit it will join.

Remote play together only works in split screen co-op with PS3 Ps4 Xbox 360 PS5 Xbox One and Xbox series X controllers
Can split the keyboard and mouse sharing in steam settings if one wants keyboard and mouse and someone else use a controller
Only the host has to own the game so can play Remote play together with all ones steam freinds if you can't get the conventional multiplayer working

If have an otg cable one can plug ones Xbox 360 controller into your mobile phone and play online through the steam link app(still works if controller plugged in to PC)
Touchscreen controls work too but have to setup a custom controller profile in steam big picture mode if want to use mobile phone touch controls

Works on Apple and Android devices

Normal multiplayer everyone has to to own the game

My router doesn't support Nat traversal so I must have a static Ipv4 address
On my router if I use a dynamic IP address every single time I reboot PC or router port forwarding is broken and it's a pain in the bum changing the IP in router forwarding rules every single time I turn the PC on
Static Ipv4 address=works forever!!

If router support Nat traversal you don't need a static IP

Same Fix works every single time I buy a new computer
Win 7 8 8.1 and 10 home Pro platinum business tech I tried all of them
Broken on unboxing day
Broken again if reinstall windows

Fix above I made using an Arma 3 firewall fix just swap Arma 3 file names for VCD file names=Bingo only fix that works I tried everything else and nothing worked so I fixed it permanently myself!

Hey, thanks for your quick response. I created a few more firewall rules and enabled admin mod / Win 7 compatibility for both the 64 and 32 bit versions of the game and actually managed to join a multiplayer game. Thanks for your help and hopefully that is that.

That's good to hear.
Go in steam library view
Servers
Filter viscera cleanup detail
Not password protected
Should see a bunch of servers
Usually it shows a few more than the ingame server browser does
if ya press join it should automatically start the game and automatically join the selected server just press T n quickly state ya intentions so there's less chance of being kicked out!

If the steam server browser is working ya fixed it
If you host no password and wait until others join congratulations you can have anyone join you.

Most players I had join my server was 29 players as I was number 30
Robot map clean in less than 10 minutes:)

Vcd has a max of 30 players per server

If friends have problems send em here n tell em how to fix it!
Temporary disable IPv6 adaptor often shows up even more servers as IPv6 can interfere with the game for some strange reason!

If wifi is too slow use cable connection from router to PC
It helps with the Ping and streaming is much more smooth n stable
WiFi can be really choppy
Person who has the fastest internet connection is the best one to host a server especially if you play an overloaded map like underground research facility
Set the games physics to Max to stop things from having a dance party. Now stuff won't fly out of ya bin and boxes wont slide out of stacking areas
Set fov slider to 110 now you can see what ya doing and will spill alot less buckets or none at all and stacking crates and barrels is way easier
The default fov is set too low

Only fix that works n for me 6 years later it still works

it also show how to setup vcd on mobile devices too via the steam link app for splitscreen coop if wanna play online with steam friends who havn't bought the game=play with anyone and if theres 4 people at home 1 pc n 3 mobile phones then hey 4 players in couch co-op
I spent years debugging VCD if it doesn't work i force it to work:)

Hopefully you can now have fun in multiplayer it's hilarious fun too

So I got around to trying to play with friends again and, unfortunately, am still having the same issue. I can join certain servers on the server browser, but none of the games my friends create nor can they join any of mine. Other friends who haven't tweaked their firewall, router, and so on could join with no issues but I cannot. I disabled IPv6 and uninstalled Geforce Experience as additional measures, but have made no progress.

partially playable hmm dunno maybe add port 7777 7778 27015 and 7778 to inbound and outbound firewall rules too.
unusual but if it fails its probably friends pc blocking connection
keep trying ya almost got it
if friend host don't use a password that or restart steam n try again it should always connect if ya click ya friends name in the menu
get friend to restart steam
swap who host that often fix it n make sure ya have the same workshop maps as eachother

heard about that but i use AMD as nvidia lags in everything n kinda got sick of nvidia
