I can't connect to my friends.

When loading the game everything seems normal. I can enter single player, and play by myself. However when I attempt to join my friend it just says connecting, and then says connecting canceled. I have tried several fixes already, but none of them have worked.

I tried verifying game files before, and after deleting game files.
I have tried connecting via vpn.
I have tried redownloading visual, and .net.
I have uninstalled, and reinstalled.
I have tried running the game outside of steam after changing some of the UDKEngine settings.
I have a static IP, both my PC, and my modem request/reserve the same address for this device.

Every time I verify there are files missing. It does not download them for me, no matter how many times i delete files, and reverify. I feel like this might be part of the reason I cannot connect to my friends. I am close to giving up. HALP PLOX I JUST WANT TO CLEAN VISCERA WITH FRIENDS..

Joining a friend may be their problem, if your ip is statics and the correct ports are open etc, then you should have no issues. Have you tried joining someone elses game? If you can join another game it's the hosts fault.
If you can't connect to them, try hosting and letting them connect to you, again will only work if they have porst open and are setup correctly too.
As for verifying, it always brings back 7?8? files that dont download, it's normal, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Yeah I tried every fix i could find before, but your fix has some information that I lacked so I can only guess that it will help!

It seems my friends can join me however I cannot join them any clue as to why that could be?

Right, im on a wifi connection atm on my laptop, and its just a poor environment for this >.<

I still only get a couple servers showing in the browser, im gonna see if i can join will check back in a moment!

Still having problems connecting. I am one step forward though. I'm going to try to redo the entire process. Gonna scrub VCD from my PC, and continue troubleshooting.

If you direct connect, change the connecting port from 27015 to 27016 ingame, that "normally" does it for me. Also there aren't normally lots of servers going, 5-6 open games at once is the most I've seen, rest could be private.
Looking now I see one game going.

Word I'll try that next, after closing geforce exp, and my vpn client i see two servers, but the latency is super high. That could be my wireless connection paired with location.
