How do stacking zones work

I found that the explanations for this are sorely lacking

1) There are as many as four types of crates in a given level, do I have to put all four types in a zone marked crates? I know some of the levels are color coordinated, but what about the levels with just one section for crates? What about the fact that three types of crates have the same color? Same question with barrels?
2) Is there any intelligent AI around this system? Like if I put a crate slightly lobsided, will I lose marks for it? If I have other things than the designated object in them, will I lose marks? If I have a crate slightly outside of a crate zone, will I not get points for putting it in the zone? If I stack crates, is there a limit to how high I can stack them before they're considered outside the crate zones?

1) Any type of crate counts as the same thing. Even those ball things actually count as crates. Just stack them all in the same spot.
2) It doesn't matter which way you orient the crates (but it does for the barrels).
Unfortunately, I haven't looked at the technical aspects of the stacking areas, so I'm not sure exactly of the rest of it.

Seriously, everything counts??? When I stacked everything, I had crates stacked to the damned roof... Do they really expect me to do that on a speedrun? Why do they give me so little time then, even when I use every petty little time saving trick I've discovered into it, I still end up barely completing even the easiest of maps.

This is how stacking areas work.

Crates:

• Any of the main types of crates(excluding medical boxes) are stacked in orange zones.
  
• They MUST be upright to count(except for the round boxes).
  
• Their center needs to be inside the marked area.
  
• Other objects inside the area do not count against you, or for you.
  
• They can be stacked as high as the ceiling.
  
  
• Other crate areas(Medical waste, Medical crates) require those specific boxes and are usually marked with the corresponding color. They also are not usually stacked in orange zones.

Barrels:

• If there is only one barrel stacking area(usually yellow), then all types of barrel go in there.
  
• They MUST be upright to count.
  
• Their center needs to be inside the marked area.
  
• Other objects inside the area do not count against you, or for you.
  
• They can be stacked as high as the ceiling.
  
  
• If there are multiple colored areas for barrels. Area color corresponds to barrel color.
  
• If you should find a barrel for which there is no corresponding colored area, put it in the yellow area.

Other Objects:

• Other objects such as wet-floor signs or Cryo-canisters(Nitrogen) sometimes need to be stacked.
  
• They MUST be upright to count.
  
• Their center needs to be inside the marked area.
  
• Other objects inside the area do not count against you, or for you.
  
• They can be stacked as high as the ceiling.

If there are multiple areas of the same color and designation, then stacking in either or both of them works out exactly the same.

If you're speedrunning for the achievement don't bother with SA's at all. It does not require you to be EotM.

Also don't feel forced to stack everything, because is not obligatory. Sure "the more the merrier" but there is no need to stress yourself with a small area.

So where are other objects (cryo-canisters, wet-floor signs) stacked?

If they don't have a stacking area then they are not stackable on that map. Simple as that.
And again, that doesn't mean they NEED to be incinerated, leaving them anywhere is fine and won't hurt your score.

I'm also pretty sure that stacking objects in the designated zones generally only gives you bonus points if anything. To 100% a level you just need to make sure that all barrels are standing upright so people don't trip on them.

The one exception is cryo-canisters on the cryogenics map I think. They must all be destroyed or placed in the designated zones or they will cause accidents.

do these crates and barrels have to be in the area, or have to be STACKED in the area?

Like if i just put 20 up-right barrels in the area do i get points? Or am i only getting points for the barrels that are ON TOP of another barrel? Because i hear stacked alot but never any clarity.

yeah stack em inside the square upright
if ya stack em on top of one another yes it will count them but don't let any barrels tip over then ya won't get a worker tiped over barrel note in the office
like in paintenance tunnels its tetris to the ceiling to make em all fit:)
most stacking areas have a penalty offset so if stack all of em it will give a large bonus score
stacking is optional but i usually only stack the barrels
be sure to stack all of the nitrogen in cryogenisis
for each one you don't stack will give a penalty

stacking also works for each bit of mess you missed it will ignore a bit off mess for each item stacked giving more a chance for employee of the month even if the office notes say mess was left behind
get a perfect clean without stacking anything n you will get eotm
clean everything vthat needs cleaning
close the incinerator door
don't burn or steal company property (welder jharm shovel etc)
burn all bins n buckets even clean ones
put crates barrels upright anywhere
leave the usb sticks on the floor
press i am proud of performance button on punchout machine n get employee of the month

you can do the paperwork for xtra points but if get the answers horribly wrong it can lower the score esp if press the union button
i skip the paperwork cuz i couldn't be bothered

if ya do frostbite map a perfect clean and stack the barrels it will give 107% but 100% without stacking the barrels
