Is this game literally just cleaning?
Having watched some videos it seems this game is just about cleaning up blood and fixing the odd thing, is that it or is there more to it?

Theirs more to it.

Some levels may have puzzles or locked doors which need be solved to ensure the level gets cleaned enough so you're not fired.

Theirs also a huge volume of collectable "Easter eggs" referencing to other games, books, films, tv series and such to be found, and a few literal Easter eggs around a few maps to be found too.

If you enjoy Easter egg hunts (which is rare in games) then this is a game for you, but the base game genuinely is a cleaning simulator.

I'll add why I like the game:
Firstly, I do enjoy hunting the Easter eggs, working out what could be a reference, and if it's actually a reference, and find the game itself very relaxing and Zen like. :)

Honestly, it is mostly just cleaning. There's a bit of a puzzle aspect in some levels like Kamoba mentioned and there's some fun in reading notes and discovering what happened in the level, but that is indeed the basic premise.

It's obviously not for everyone, but it is still pretty enjoyable for some.

Also can you save your progress on a level or do you have to complete it in one go?

Try the free demo like Janitor suggested, but yeah as starry said, mostly it's cleaning..

Although I often find myself playing with a pen and paper too to make notes and play detective so I can find the elusive "Bob"

you can save at any time and take ones sweet time cleaning up the messes unless turn on the time limmit option or play speedrun mode
the demo is old it might not have the save feature
vcd is overflowing with easter eggs too
if buy vcd also get 2 spinoff vcd games for free santa's rampage and shadow warrior

I'm currently cleaning three different maps on seperate saves at the same time... How it will effect my office when I finish them I don't yet know (thus why I'm doing it, to find out :) ) but yes, you can save.

I have not played multiplayer yet, and enjoy it solo :) though do intend to play multi soon :)

Yeah, multiplayer can be fun but you need good Internet. Even with good Internet it can be kind of crazy, but without it's even worse.
Everything that can be done in multiplayer can also be done in single player besides two minor acheivements. Don't worry though, I hardly ever play multiplayer and the game is still more than fun.

Is it worth the money?

I'd say so. It's ~10$ and already has more content than most 60$ Steam games.
Depends if you're into this sort of stuff though. Some love it, others hate it. I'd say so but it's really up to you.
