Make this Game VR
I really think pple would dig it!

Zoning out chill gameplay titles are popular in VR. Job Simulator is a top sell on the Quest and that's a total chill out game.

I personally have the Oculus Quest which I can physically link to my PC and it works great!

I definitely like Quest games because you just turn on your headset and go. There's no cables or a PC involved and the graphics are pretty darn good.

Of course playing VR games on my PC is great too. So either way Steam VCD or Quest VCD or both! would be amazing.

I agree with the idea of "porting it" to VR (I say porting in quotes because chances are updating their version of Unreal Engine to one that supports VR will break A LOT of scripts like it happens with Unity projects), but I don't believe a game of this nature will play well on the Quest because there's only so much optimization Runestorm can do before they have to play with the draw distance for objects and decals (and I don't need to explain why THAT is a bad idea in this game).

Using the Oculus Link cable to connect the Quest to the PC is fine, but I seriously do not recommend anyone consider a version for standalone quest due to the sheer number of assets with physics and more noticebly, the decals.

That's all true but you'd be amazed of how good looking the Oculus Rift games port to the Oculus Quest. Sure, the games look a little dated by todays standards because of the removal of many graphical elements (that are mostly fluff anyways) Plus when you turn off/down graphics in VR it's still amazing because it's VR! I recently played the single player of Quake 2 on my Quest and it was a totally new and awesome experience. (there's a program for your PC called 'Sidequest' that has free games that you can transfer directly to your Quest HD via cable allowing you to play VR games cable free)

Regarding VCD. I agree..the decals would definitely need to go and or get dumbed down considerably which all Quest ports do already. (I personally run servers with footprints off cause they slow framerate on my 'okay' machine but to me the footprints are lame anyways) but the Oculus Quest does physics great. and i'm pretty sure the Oculus Quest makes a lot of games with the Unreal Engine already.

You make really good points though but as I always say, where there's a will there's a way especially if there's a little money to be made lol

That's not how any of this works. Using the Quest with the Link cable on the PC means the PC is doing all the rendering for the Quest, and the Quest only has to run the image.

Running VCD on Quest by itself without a PC to do the rendering for it requires an absurd number of optimization processes beyond just using low poly variations and lower resolution textures. Using occlusion culling will give mixed results, since it will be perfect for more corridor style maps like the underwater facility with all those tentacles, but in open areas like the artic excavation area the performance will tank on the Quest.

Then there's also the physics problem, due to large number of assets affected by gravity, including body parts (which ragdoll themselves) it takes a toll on CPU performance unless they "dumb down" the physics, but usually when that is done, the physics can cause objects to glitch out of the play area, rendering it impossible to finish with a good score... and don't get me started in carrying those objects in the yellow hazmat buckets we use for cleanups, the physics are already janky enough on the PC as it is.

EDIT: regarding the decals, I honestly believe they might need to make them dead obvious. Though blood is the most visible decal, they might have to either make it brighter or give some luminescence (thankfully the latter isn't taxing on the systems). I dunno how they'd do for soot or other dirt tho.

lol if he can hack VR support and not know how to play the game i find that hilarious

https://youtu.be/k0EJV1PX67A

Go play VCD in VR I did in 2015
Closest you gonna get to VR as Devs can't officially add VR due to engine limitations its too much to code in native support and devs don't have proper access to said code

native vr support will never happen in VCD unless devs do make a sequel one day on a better engine

VCD and goat simulator have identical engine build number of ue3=
This old VR mod should also work in that game too so can go n lick stuff in 3d

Looks like it runs fine in those videos
Some Game Reviews from 2019 still says that the VR mod is still working so it's worth a try as I played VCD in VR at friends house in 2015 n it looked bloody awesome too!

disable the pickup highlighting in options=the game looks way better without that n up the fov to 110 n if pda txt too small up the size of that too in options

behindview cheat code to toggle 3rd and 1st person mode
3rd person is interesting but takes a while to get used to the hands hitbox and welding with a bent laser beam(welder looks same as watching someone else use welder in multiplayer aim at the bullet hole same as aiming a bow n arrow in rl

VCD without decals LoL what drugs did you take I want some so I can play VR in VCD without a VR unit:)
