remote play together gone?
I'm not sure but I think I've seen the "remote play" notification whenever I played this game recently. Today I wanted to try it out with a friend (for coop achievements), but there was no option for it...
Did you remove this feature or did it just exist in my imagination?
When I sort for remote play games the VCD standalone levels still show up.

same here, it was available before.
And the best part is that i dont even remember this game updating, so i guess this is something that can be changed "on the fly" directly on steam platform

It's one of those things that, sort of work, but will be very difficult to get working properly.

It was enable by default upon Steam's release of Remote Play Together support, but VCD does not officially support it, since given the way input in the unreal engine works, it requires two controllers on either side. So the host would need to have two controllers, one for themselves, another to just "enable" input for player two. Player two, across the internet would also need two controllers, the first one as a dummy just to get the number of to 2, which will be input for player 2.

It's rather dumb, since you can't use keyboard/mouse input as a separate channel from the controller.

However, we've not dug all the way with this one, so there might be something we can do to hack the engine(Unreal Engine 3, which is what VCD is built on) or find some other way of splitting the input.

For now, it's safer to not deceive players with false advertisement into thinking it works.

OK, reasonable.
Does the other player need two controllers as well though? I mean, if the host has two controllers and therefor is able to choose which player he is going to be/player 2, one controller should be enough for the other player, shouldn't it?

Okay, thanks for your time BlackEagle. Would be pretty cool If this is working in the future.

This can be funny to test too. Cause the other player by defaut is gonna be on input number 1, so if player 1 (with 2 controllers) just leave input 1 for the other player, and plays with the other controller it can work too.
But nevermind, it was pretty weird actually hahaha.
We had the idea of testing it with emulated Xbox controllers.

Player two using the hosts controller 1? Hmm, I guess that could work. Since the host is the one who creates a splitscreen with the use of controllers, he could just use his second controller, leaving the first one for the streaming client.

Still messy, but yeah I believe that might work.
Admittedly I've not yet had a chance to do much testing with Remote Play Together. Connection speeds in SA being what they are.

Me and a friend were playing this game together through remote play together for a couple of weeks before the feature was removed. I only had 1 controller plugged in and so did she, it always seemed to work fine for us. I was using an xbox one controller, and she was using a ps3 controller. Are there any plans to re-introduce the feature in the future? It is fun to play with some one else, but her laptop can't run the game to well on it's own.

Is this thread/functionality forgotten? Was looking forward to play this game with a friend and quarantine makes Remote Play Together a must right now...

Greetings all. We're looking into adding proper support for Remote Play Together, and could use a bunch of people willing to test its limits. We're mainly wondering if the input scheme is up to par.

Ideally we'd like, in a Split-screen game:
One player to be able to play with a keyboard and the other with a single controller, able to control two separate characters.
Both players to play with their own single controller, but be able to control two separate characters.
Additional players to be able to join and control a third or fourth character with either their single controller, or their keyboard.

Given the way the Unreal Engine handles input, this seems like a recipe for disaster. So hopefully we can leverage the Steam Input API to make up for some of the shortcomings if needed.

If you're interested in working together, let me know. And of right now, the feature is enabled
on the Beta build. You can opt into this with the following code: ZeTrollPatch

With the steam link app
(remote play anywhere) and played a map this morning on my phone and I also hosted and joined a server the conventional way and used the level editor on my phone!

but haven't tried the remote play together feature yet cuz nobody else has seen the above mentioned Dev post today but me I guess
but I think it will work
Try it out and tell us how it worked

I posted how I got it working on my phone in the Dev thread
