What to throw out?
Aside from the obvious, viscera, garbage & bloody buckets, what can or should you throw out? Regular looking boxes, blue water barrels, white parcels and those strange hexagonal balls, do they need to be stacked in the box areas? Do you get penalized if you throw them out? I am assuming I should still get rid of biohazard and explosive barrels? What about loose items you find in the levels such as keyboards, monitors, electronic equipment, etc?

Some clarification would be good.

If it looks like it belongs then you should tidy it, not burn it.
If it's broken you burn it.

So you are on the right track with container stacking.

I believe the steam guides, the level guides has a list of things to keep n things to throw.

I suppose as a rule of thumb, if the sniffer (or whatever it's called, on slot 3) starts beeping when you're near it on blue (bio stuff, blood, bodies, etc) or green mode (non-bio junk, trash, broken stuff, etc), then it has to go. Buckets and bins also need to be removed before you clock out.

Boxes, those blue sphere things (which count as boxes for stacking), barrels, white med crates, bio waste boxes, cryogenic canisters and such, and even wet floor signs can be stacked if the level has a dedicated stacking zone for them, and don't need to be removed. (Putting them in the designated stacking zone gets you bonus points. Handy for if you missed a spot of blood or a limb or piece of junk.)

Can't think of much else regarding objects. Though i guess it's worth mentioning hidden easter-egg objects typically don't count as trash and the sniffer won't detect them.

How about metal plates because I've played for 63 hours and still don't know what to do with them

Burn, or leave. They make no difference.

Personally I'd burn them, because they're evil and secretly plot your downfall.

I just stack them in a corner since they don't quite fit in the furnace and they block the door.

i normally just burn Everything. Anything that can be grabbed and moved i dispose of. I class everything as contaminated so i just do a full clean. Game's never complained before. Got over 90% on quite a few levels.

Can anyone clarify if the yellow barrels with the biohazard symbol on them should be saved or burned. There are the yellow boxes for stacking barrels but I do not know if they are for blue water barrels only or not.

They do have to bo stacked.

The color of a stacking zone doesn't matter most of the time, the exception being maps like Unearthly Excavation where there are two different colored barrel zones, a blue one for blue barrels, and a yellow one for the toxic/biohazard barrels. But if there's one or multiple barrel stacking zones of the same color, they'll accept any type and color of barrels.

Hm, suppose there's a suprising amount of people going for the burn em all strategy, though burning (or stealing) the Plasma Welders (aka the bullet hole-removing gun) does get you a penalty. So i'd imagine most make that the exception (pretty much almost impossible to remove big boxes without it, anyway), you'd have to be pretty damn hardcore/dedicated to burn em all without it.

Stacking crates is a pain in the butt. It should be relatively easy to stack them but I find that the more you put near each other the more they move on their own. Do you get penalized for boxes that you destroy?
CarThief Oct 28, 2016 @ 12:47am
Nah, Welders are like the only thing you get penalized for destroying (or taking to the office, for the first time), everything else is fair game. Them spinning sure is an annoying problem, though, back when i still bothered with stacking them all in one spot (or how bad of a problem it was when the plant level with seedbeds had only ONE stacking zone, oh the pain, even with two players it was hell).

if i throw something out of the map on frostbite for example, does that count as disposing of an item like an explosive barrel? putting explosive barrels in the furnace makes a bunch of scorch marks everywhere and its annoying so i thought throwing them out of the map would suffice, am i mistaken?
Smidge204 Sep 3, 2017 @ 1:40pm
You should stack the barrels in Frostbite since there is an area for barrels (near the Punch-O-Matic). That gets you bonus points.

The only map(s) I know of where tossing items out of the play area counts as cleaned are Gravity Drive (airlock), Zero-G Therapy (airlock) and the office (disposal chute). However these were spcifically set up to be the disposal method...
