Rather odd it only triggers from stacking though... Maybe its height-related? Ah well, atleast stacking is optional (except for the cryogenic canisters in Cryogenesis, gotta stack those in their zones or get a penalty).
I was fine playing in the brightly lit levels, and the blood and gore did not seem to affect me, but when I got a couple hours in with the Penitentiary level, I started feeling dizzy and sick to my stomach. I couldn't understand it... then I did some research... AHA! I found an article that described in detail why certain games affect people and make them physically sick.
https://pyroteq.com/field-of-view-first-person-shooters/
So, based on that article, and others, this is what was advised...
1. Disable "view bob"
2. Enable HUD ring
3. Turn off "Motion Blur"
4. Adjust FOV (Field of View) to a higher number (at least to 100)
All four adjustments are in the menu for Viscera Cleanup Detail
(which I just did moments ago)
I enjoy the game... but I had to completely stop after yesterday... and I am surprised at the residual dizziness and nausea I still feel while writing this.
I won't return to play the game until I feel physically sound again.
Once I do and replay, I'll report here how the new settings have helped or hindered.
Hope what I found helps others return to the game! (Including me!)
UPDATE: October 14
It took me some time to adjust... I even had to take some motion sickness medication once or twice, but I'm back playing the game. At first I really had my doubts to continue playing, but in addition to the option adjustments listed above, I also changed the option to "always run" to "walk". It made a big difference. I hope this helps others.
I used to work as a janitor at a hardware store that has 18 buildings and 26 department stores
The boss got me to change all of the light tubes from warm white to cool white
It more than halved company staff from chucking sick days and it trippled customer sales while I had 3000 bins to empty n lots of offices bathrooms and showrooms to clean as well as do the company maintenance after I finished cleaning:)
The new lights felt like shopping at ALDI=no headache
Go to Woolworths and get a migraine from the lights!
Said boss told me that I increased company production by 40% just from changing all of the light globes:)
Those settings in the game should help
Esp the circle
Yeah it's good to take a break if played VCD all day lol!
Have some water=the best cure for headache along with a nano nap
It's been years since I ever had to take headache tablets and can play games all day
My old monitor was too small so I use my TV it's much bigger and the tv remote can adjust the picture settings so ya never get sick:)
IE play a racing game when drunk and still get 1st in every race without running for a bucket when the screen starts to spin in circles
Don't have too much to drink just enough to stop you from crashing the car
Took me 3 years to get the gold medals in 3 races in burnout 3 takedown PS2 game
The games fastest car is too slow to win gold medal races=silver with 1 hundredth second too slow 30000 times
Got drunk one night and finished all 3 races in 1st with gold on the 1st try
The screen was blurry but I won the game driving on the wrong side of the road with my tyres on fire (nitrous) against head on traffic without crashing the car at all
Is the only way to beat that game
That game was the best game at making you lose when your car catches on fire and explodes into tiny peices the moment you even slightly hit something:)
It was also the best game at making me car sick travel sickness!
Drive car at 300+KLM an hour to get a gold medal
It can only do 120 if you haven't got any nitrous so had to light the afterburner set your tyres on fire and drive with nitrous from start to end (takedown rampage run every other racer off the road n make em crash Thier car to get super continuous nitrous) Pedal to the Metal it's like driving a NASA rocket:)
(change to bigger tv=then your car fits between the other cars that you about to have a head on collision with vs the game bumper camera (can't see your car)
If you can see your car the controls are too janky to get 3rd in a race
The final race had 7 laps n took just over half n hour to finish the race
Drink drive it's a washing liquid
That game can make you really car sick
The car is really fast when ya set it's a$$ on fire:)
Higher n higher with its a$$hole on fire never fly on a Concorde:)
The bigger the tv the more room there is to not spill your bucket
A bigger TV helps alot with motion sickness
Same if you get on a boat and if you don't want to get sea sick look at the horizon and not look at the water too close to the boat
Same if wrapping pallets with plastic wrap=don't look at the pallet n ya won't get dizzy
I have 20 20 vision and never get sick from playing games (vomit train if play a high speed racing game when ya mix too much alcohol with it)
If one has glasses and nothing in the game options helps
(especially the white circle)
it might help to go n get ya eyes checked one might new glasses esp if things looking blurry but won't notice it until ya read a book or play a game for hours
Fov on 110 is nice you won't spill anywhere near as many buckets and stacking is 10 times easier
Up the size of the txt if PDA has tiny text with high fov so reading notes doesn't make you travel sick
Anything you can do so it doesn't strain your eyes n ya won't get sick in any game even if you have to draw a circle on the glass monitor screen with a whiteboard marker can help alot in games that doesn't have a circle HUD option
If you're stacking things only stack the barrels
Put crates upright position anywhere
If cleaned it right it will always be above 100% score eotm
That's after you scanned all the USB sticks into the punchout machine and skipped the paperwork by pressing the I am proud of performance button so the paperwork you didn't do won't make you sick!
Pssst mattresses don't count as mess and you don't have to touch a single mattress
There are lots of things that you don't have to burn
Mattresses also make decent rubber waterslide mats in VCD
Cool I found a way to turn a mattress into a trampoline in the games level editor yesterday:)
Like mattress in goat simulator except the janitor can pick it up throw it on the floor and jump on it=better than the J harm (scissor lift)
Kinda like a jump pad in portal game except the janitor can pick it up and move it or burn it:)
Already made a portal gun in pool of death 2 that shoots 3d portals that doesn't stick to walls=cool time to make a new portal map:)
My PC is in my living room so I can sit on the couch and put the keyboard and mouse on the coffee table n the Xbox 360 controller is good with the mouse so ya don't have to use the keyboard to play VCD
Left stick to walk n mouse for everything else n ya won't walk like a robot!
Much better controls
The tv remote is great with the PC
It can change video and audio settings that you can't change on the PC
It can also change the channel so can play PS3 PS2 and watch TV on the same screen n it's nice when the tv remote can change the volume or mute it if the phone rings
Comfortable setup so you don't get sore eyes or get sick from staring at the telly all day and if you work from home n hate office furniture the couch is great n ya won't get a sore back n ya coffee table is a 2nd desk:)
Ambient lighting to also not torture your eyes n close the blinds if tv like a mirror vs the sun so your not seeing what's outside or looking at a reflection of your play area!
Not good to sit too close to the tv that can make you sick if sit too close to the screen!
Any way to make VCD faster to play so ya don't have to stare at the tv for too long
Yep try this fancy cheat=
Host game
Game rules
Set blood footprints to none
Go back n play solo speedrun or multiplayer in every level=cool if you step in blood there is no blood footprints to mop up!
Turn it back on if you trying to get the pedestrian achievement n can get that in less than 10 seconds
Stand in blood next to something that makes you glitch jump rapidly=those railings in waste disposal or the seed beds in hrdro hell are good for that!
I fixed that jumping bug in some of my maps so the janitor won't try to use everything as a ladder n it makes the controls very smooth
(Devs should disable the can step up on flag in all static meshes except for the floor and stairs so if want to get on a table etc you have to jump to get on it instead of walking on said table like stairs do n it makes controlling the janitor feel more realistic vs the environment)
It also faster if you don't stack the crates just put em upright anywhere
Skip the paperwork too but still put those USB sticks in the punchout machine
See a mattress keep walking nothing to see there=you don't have to burn a single mattres:)
As a janitor in a game if you increase the efficiency of your job then your gonna have more fun doing your job n it won't take anywhere near as long to finish cleaning!
Those things should help get rid of motion sickness especially if you can slice n hour or two off the time it takes to clean a map
Alcohol will make it worse lol
Why not stack 3 buckets
Or instead of getting a new bin tip the bin into the fire so you can recycle your bin=
Less time walking to and from the dispensers and also less times that the machines will spam you with gibs or paper ads
