Are you throwing it hard enough for it to break? You should also let it just simmer for a bit, leave it alone for two or three seconds or more and it visibly starts eating away at the paint, allowing for an easy cleanup once it's done removing most paint. That said, if you start mopping too early, you may need more acid vials then just one each for most types of graffiti.

You DO actually want to mop up spilled acid quickly if it didn't land on paint, as it starts melting the surface it's on if not mopped away and then you'll need to melt it back straight with the Welder.

And if you're having trouble breaking it with a throw, try moving left a bit while holding an vial, then quickly move right and let the vial go, the good ol' sideways throw, basically, not accurate but fast as hell.

Not sure what you're doing wrong there, all you really need to do is smash or throw the acid jar against the graffiti hard enough, leave the acid stain there for a few seconds, and once it's done dissolving the paint you can mop it away (keep mopping for a while longer even after the acid is gone, if you let the acid do it's job then the paint will be weakened enough to be removed after just one acid jar and one mopping session).

Maybe watch a video of someone playing the Uprinsing map to get an idea of the Acid Jars, if that still doesn't do it? That or you tried using the Acid Jars on something that doesn't need removing or can't be removed.
If all that doesn't work or the video looks vastly different from what you're doing then perhaps there's a bug, though.

You can mop it but it takes minutes to do it.
