do the brown boxes count as crates?

If you clean up a large section of the level and then drag something there and pull out the Sniffer, if the Sniffer remains quiet, then the object is typically not something you need to trash.

Crates do not need to be upright, but barrels do. Everything that's cube shaped is a crate, but if you're not sure, toss it in the stacking area anyway.

ok

yeah if it's any type of barrel or crate it needs stacked if there's a zone for it.
Crates are marked in game to be stacked upright for a full bonus but only the barrels will give you a bad note in the office if they're left tipped over.

Do the white boxes count as crates? I found some on Frostbite and wasn't sure if they needed to be included in the stacking.

I've tested the boxes, and found they don't matter in Frostbite or Revolutionary Robotics. They do matter in the new level (Uprinsing). You never know until you test it out... they don't tell you beforehand.

does it matter if you burn some of them? like maybe burn half the boxes and stack half of them

You can burn them without penalty. You just don't get the points you would have got for stacking them.
In Robotics or Frostbite, you can do whatever you want with them, the game doesn't care. In Uprinsing, you lose the bonus points you might have got. No penalty.

Edit: So, if you stack half then you get half the bonus points you would have got. But only in Uprinsing. (By the way, when I stacked the boxes in Uprinsing, I went from 118% complete to 119% complete, so it doesn't make much of a difference anyway).
