Best Fish In-Game?

I just wanna know, what's the best fish in-game? Not talking about Fingerling/Flawless, I'm talking about the actual fishes, like Bass and Clownfish. I recently got myself the fish that turns your pet into a Creeping Widow (Forgot the fish's name) permanently. I'm currently on level 8 of the dungeon, so. Would the creeping widow pet be good, for now?

My favorite is the one (sorry I can't remember which fish it is) that turns your pet into a poison Wyvern. It seems to have the best stats of all the monsters, plus it poisons the enemies which makes them drop health even faster.

does it matter where you fish or can you catch all types at any place?

Supposedly you have a better chance of finding the better (flawless) fish the deeper you go. I guess it's true (it's almost impossible to find a good flawless fish in the first couple of levels). But you can also spend a lot of time fishing in the deeper levels, and still get mostly fingerling and good fish.
To be honest, one of the best ways to get the best fish is to find the fish seller guy. He pops up every few levels. Normally if you are looking for a specific fish (like a flawless clownfish), he is your best bet to find one.

I use the dog the whole game. Mostly because the dog is the most unobtrusive animal in the game. You can fish without have a unicorn butt in the heros face and the rest are just as distracting. Just find some magic find stuff for your dog and it will help you get magic stuff. basicly they are just a delivery truck that goes to town and back anyway. I hardly ever see mine except when I fish. By the time he gets back I already have another load for him. But I also have over 1800% magic find. You might see a little more of your pet than I do.

in my expereince with the non steam version the best fish is the flawless gold fish beatin those stats is quite difficult

I always thought the best fish was the one that turned the pet into a flaming mustang. I base this on the fact that I never found a fish that showed stat gain while the pet was a flaming horse.

My fav was the rubyscale (if I remember correctly). It gives you a vile tarantula. The cool thing about it is not only does it have a chance to poison the enemy, it can also potentially stop them, allowing you to escape more easily if you need to do so.

Venomous Wyvern seems to be best animal, according to statistics. At least it don't dies after 5 hits, like cat.

flawless clownfish (verified) - gives Venomous Wyvern. All stats maxed compared to any other fish.

To catch these I recommend going below level 10 - probably around lvl 15 and plan to fish for hours. Deeper increases the odds too, so it might not take as long... on average... dot dot dot....

The gryphon fish. Also ive always liked the golden betta because the abomination throws spells to enemies

as far as i know the best fish stats-wise is the ruffy, im actually here on the discussions page looking to see if anyone has ever caught a flawless ruffy because ive googled and put many playthroughs into this game and have never seen one or any confirmation of other people having one. it has become my holy grail quest to find a flawless ruffy

I've found the Brain Beast to be very good combined with a sword and board character. The debuffs they cast are great. Especially the way it takes mana from whatever you are fighting. Keeps them from casting spells on you.

I actually caught one by fluke around level 14 of the dungeon after fishing for about 15 minutes, it was a lava fishing spot but I don’t think that makes a difference. I came here to find out whether the Griffon or the Venomous Wyvern was better, since most of the Wyvern’s stats are better, but it has no magic (-100 from Griffon).
