Also, there are 3:
FATE: Undiscovered Realms, The Traitor's Soul and The Cursed King.
For now, I'm perfectly happy playing the original.
I see that the other games are for sale on Wild Tangent's website, but aren't sure if we get them from there if we'll own the games outright or will be stuck with having to download and run a whole other always-online program in order to play them.
For the tinfoil hat crowd, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if Wild Tangent offered the original here on Steam as a hook, and only making the other games in the series available on their own website in order to cut out the middleman and rake in all the revenue for themselves.
I heard that the WT forum is closing. Does the mean they aren't supporting the game or creating new ones? I also heard that hey had nothing to do with this version of Fate.
I'm not certain how much WT had to do with the original, but I /do/ know it was their biggest seller for a looooong time and quite possibly put them on the map in the gaming world. If my Fate history is correct, the sequels to the first game started out as mods which were then heavily refined and packaged. I may be 100% incorrect but I remember reading topics back in the day by the modding teams that made the mods.
