FATE

finally... but why not expansions?
It's about time Wild Tanget met up with Valve and put their games on steam, and what better game to try Steam out than the game that spawned Torchlight, called Fate, But i saw on the Wild launcher that this game has two expansions, where are those?

Fate: The Traitor soul is the second, and Fate: Undescovered Realms. I have both, but I only play Traitor soul as it has pretty much what those 2 have.

I'm hoping that WildTangent will put the other FATE up on Steam in good time.

Also, there are 3:

FATE: Undiscovered Realms, The Traitor's Soul and The Cursed King.

For now, I'm perfectly happy playing the original.
I'm wanting this game but because of the no-expansion packs i'm holding off. I got burned before and i'll wait for a full compliation to be released instead of being kicked around for each seperate expansion.

The game is from early 2000, so I wouldn't bet on it

As stated prior, there are three games past this one. HOWEVER, game 2 and game 3 are essentially the same with game 3 having slightly more content. Cursed King is the best rendition as it has the multiple dungeon style created in 2 and expanded in 3, but it is a new area and uses old content as well as adding a lot more. I'm genuinely surprised that Cursed King isn't released here as it has an online aspect that allows people to trade with one another as well as let players hire characters out as allies for their game.

I'll definitely purcahse the expansions when Steam gets them. If they have card and achivements anyway.

After playing the original here on Steam we're definitely interested in the other games of the series as well.

I see that the other games are for sale on Wild Tangent's website, but aren't sure if we get them from there if we'll own the games outright or will be stuck with having to download and run a whole other always-online program in order to play them.

For the tinfoil hat crowd, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if Wild Tangent offered the original here on Steam as a hook, and only making the other games in the series available on their own website in order to cut out the middleman and rake in all the revenue for themselves.

As someone who had Fate waaaaay back in the day... yes, you will need to download the Wild Tangent client to play the games and each successive update makes it harder to reach the games you already own just to play them. I've had a great relationship with the folks over at WT for many, /MANY/ years (I was introduced to Fate and Geneforge through them which sparked my love for RPGs, medieval fantasy ones in particular) but their client has only become worse over time. I recommend you wait or find a disc copy of the games as they don't need the WT client (or so I think).

@Nugget

I heard that the WT forum is closing. Does the mean they aren't supporting the game or creating new ones? I also heard that hey had nothing to do with this version of Fate.

I just now saw that they're closing the forums... that's actually depressing, considering the sheer amount of mods and history they had.

I'm not certain how much WT had to do with the original, but I /do/ know it was their biggest seller for a looooong time and quite possibly put them on the map in the gaming world. If my Fate history is correct, the sequels to the first game started out as mods which were then heavily refined and packaged. I may be 100% incorrect but I remember reading topics back in the day by the modding teams that made the mods.

Adam M aka WT employee made a post about the closing.

Sadly, we’ve decided to shut down our community forums, effective January 15, 2014. We greatly value your participation in our online community. We’re working on other community engagement efforts and look forward to introducing new support and community-based services in the future.

We will keep the forums up until January 15, 2014, so folks can identify, recover and save any helpful content. The forums will be taken down and inaccessible after January 15, 2014.

To be 100% clear, this decision and announcement is about our community forums exclusively. WildTangent games, applications and other services are not affected and remain alive and well.

Thank you for being a part of the WildTangent Community Forum. While we’ll miss the lively discussions in our forums, we’re looking forward to new ways to support, communicate and engage with you in the future.
Perhaps they're closing the forums to move their main discussions here to the community hub on Steam?

Can anyone recommended a game similar to fate here on steam? Other than Din's Curse which is pretty good IMHO.
