radeon nvidia or intel? ive found that they cause different issues
Visited the link earlier in this discussion about fixing "config.dat". It worked for me, but I have three tips for anyone trying to use that method:
First, the ProgramData folder is hidden, so make sure you open the full path (eg. "C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\FateSteam\Persistent"
Second, when you create the "config.dat" file, make sure you set the file type as "All Files" when saving (otherwise, you may accidentally create a file called "config.dat.txt", even if it doesn't *look* like that's the case).
Third, after typing in "FULLSCREEN:0" into the file, follow it up by pressing <Enter> (leaves a blank line at the end of file). The application doesn't appear able to process configuration lines that aren't terminated with a newline.
2) 150MB Download
3) Steam Default
4) Click Launch
5) Screen zooms in/ shrinks to smaller size and Windows pops up a message stating: "FATE has stopped working."
2. Wireless connection
3. Default steam location
4. Crashes immediately on start.
5. States, "Application error, this game will now exit"
2)Wired connection
3)Default location
4)Game launches, game loads ~ 75% or so and then freezes while still playing the main menu music this only happens with original Fate game as all others work perfectly fine even in fullscreen
5)Says not responding in the title bar from the time the music starts playing. Eventually crashes saying "Runtime error! Program: C:\Program Files(86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FATE\fate.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
Please fix. I need my childhood game back so I can drown myself in fantasy and never emerge from the dark depths of the dungeon in the town of grove.
2 - Wired connection
3 - Windows (c) / Program Files (x86) / WildTangent Games / Games / FATE
4 - Crashes right away. Error:
Application Error
This game will now exit.
Tried changing compatibility. None of them work. Please help me get the game working! Thank you!

make sure theres an extra blank line at the bottom of the file and save it as config.dat make sure you set the dropdown for file to type to all types or it will still save as a txt. then lastly right click the config.dat in the fate file and hit properties. in the security tab make sure your user has full control checked. if not hit edit and check it for your user. open the game and it should open fine. once at the main menu set your display options to your hearts content and the game should open fine from then on in the settings you chose. best of luck!
1) Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
2) Hybrid (Computer to router to wireless router) connection
3) Default but on D:\ and SteamLibrary
4) The game used to work fine. Now only loads to 3/4 and crashes after some time of sitting at 3/4 with music
