FATE
Fate does not verify the integrity of its files properly
there is a whole host of save directories and game files that do not get validated for some reason.

i deleted a save manually and turned off cloud sync, and reinstalled this game about 5 times now and its still stuck on the loading screen.

so i began to delete important game files and verify the integrity and guess what? everything validated successfully and it didn't replace the files i deleted.

still stuck on loading screen and have done a fresh reinstall with sync off and a clean registry several times, (also reinstalling didn't replace the Wild Tangent folder and its sub directories after i deleted it the first time).

no matter what i do i cannot get the game to run again. your install is broken, your file verification is broken, and deleting game saves within the game just did not work, when the game was running.

The verification process is Steam's, not FATE's. Perhaps this is how Steam does all verifications. I don't know if this is a new thing or if Steam's verification process has always worked this way, but this same issue has been noted for players of another game I own. Apparently, Steam only checks certain files that it deems are the most important.

I found someone's (actually a friend of mine) advice in the forum for the other game. Maybe some bits of it will work for this game, as well.

"First try to use Steam's game verification feature to check for corrupt/missing files. Don't be surprised if it fails to find fault(s) and re-download some stuff, I think it only checks a proportion of the most vital game files.

Next, If you have a fast connection, delete the whole game. Change your Steam download server location to one a little further away and download again.

If that fails to fix it, try another server - I'm sure some have a full copy else I'd be seeing this kind of Question on a very frequent basis.

If your connection is very slow, you could try deleting game folders individually, begin with a group of the smallest sized folders before running Verify/testing your save game, then work up through the next largest folder(s)."

Saves are kept in two places and if you delete outside of the game you have to delete both of them. Any time there's a mismatch between the two folders, the game hangs on load. One set is under C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\FateSteam\Persistent\SAVE\en-US. The other set is under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\#######\######\SAVE\en-US. Your best option there is probably getting to userdata and then searching "en-US" and finding it among the results.

That is, assuming you're using Windows.
