Mace Strike + Stunning Blow
I found a mace with stunning blow, which has the same description as mace strike.

Does that mean the two effects stack? Or does only one "activate" and the second is useless?

I don't believe they stack. When you remove the mace form the character does it still say mace strike in their description? If it does, is their default weapon a mace?

Yeah, battle monk. It's their default weapon.

Can some characters wield maces without having mace strike as a base skill?

I thought that the "[weapon] strike" skills were basically "proficiency" skills and let you know what weapons a class can use.

If that's true, it would be pointless to have stunning blow on a mace if it doesn't stack.

If you have two items with mace strike and stunning blow, the stronger one (in this case stunning blow) would have an effect.

In combat however if you attack a unit several times in the same round the severity of his stunning would increase.

So the effects don't stack on one attack, but they'll stack with multiple attacks. Good to know, thanks. :)

How is stunning blow the "stronger one", though? Going by the descriptions of the two...

Mace Strike
"A mace strike stuns the target and lowers his attack and initiative for 30% until the next turn."

Stunning Blow
"This attack stuns enemies, lowering their attack and initiative by 30% until the next turn."

It sounds like the exact same thing with a slightly-different wording.

Hmm, I thought stunning blow was doing 60%, not 30. Let me check some more.

I've made extensive use of maces with Stunning Blow, and I can confirm that the effects stack. Hitting a foe just once with such a mace will give them the Moderately Stunned debuff, instead of the Lightly Stunned effect that a regular mace or a non-mace with Stunning Blow would inflict. This also has the benefit of being able to inflict a Lightly Stunned debuff on a foe with Rugged Helmet.

Good to know, thank you. :)
