Former SCO/Ace Online/Air Rivals player. How similar?

I loved that (those) game(s). It was an interesting mix of MMO, Flight, RPG, etc. Does this game also have those elements? I want to level up, upgrade gear, do missions, have different classes. This is something that was very satisfying in SCO/AO/AR. Is this just an arena game though?

I loved AR too, but this is pure arena, way more fast-paced. In fact, it's a little more shooter than flight even, but the flight modes add some dynamic action to it. The only progression here is unlocking some aesthetics.

IMO it's better. just need a better rig to run it lol. and you don't have to spend a dime to get anything AKA (armor's, Weapons, Ect.)
It's still open beta and stuffs so Everything is still in the works. Like balance and stuff. Still worth the buy. ^^

I fell in love when I saw how similar to Air Rivals it looked. It's been worth every penny for me so far, you don't have the MMO style progression, but it's much more fast paced.

AR had such a neat take on PVP with the nations, motherships, elections, etc. It's a shame that is was such a grindfest (that I admittedly played for years) and a trainwreck in general due to the dev team's slow updates.

Agreed Jmoney. I played Ace/Ar for over.... i think 3 years. and yes it was a train wreck lol.

I played ace for like....6 years, and now I'm over flight-games. This is waaaay to similar to hold my attention.

Well they are going to keep suporting the game. there is a big patch for this gaming coming in Feb. and it's free.( DLC) woot free shizz lol.

It's a twitch based flight sim with I-Gear like VTOLS, infact i used to wish i had this level of control in air rivals.

Looks like ace / ar but it's actually ALOT more aim based. unlike ace/ar's bro aim here and you will hit.and missles miss.... alot lol..

i actually got into this game because i thought it would be kinda similar to i-gears from ace. been playing it from 2006 till 2011, i guess i'm having a nostalgic feeling. gotta buy this.

No if you miss in SV it's because they have really high evasion. I remember when i bought this game a day or so ago, i was firing at them and they were like a fountain of pop up miss text...

Combat sounds soooo similar to Ace. And yes, the gears look very much like I-gears. I was expecting for their to be b-gears, medics and tanks lol. In one of the vids it looks like someone uses the turnaround skill, looked very similar to Ace/AR.
