Can't play offline (no internet connected).
I have been testing for a couple of hours on and off, but no matter what I do, I can't play with no internet.

-I can play while steam is offline, but computer still connected to internet
-I can play if I let it load up the main screen (where the singleplayer, multiplayer, etc. buttons are), then disconect from internet.

When I load it up (with no internet) it worrks fine, music plays, the logo screen followed by plague inc title screen pops up, but then the mouse appears on a black screen (of what should be the main screen where the singleplayer, multiplayer, ect. buttons are). I try and click around trying to hit buttons to see if I can hear them being clicked (to see if I just can't see the screen), I can't. If I press the windows screen and connect to internet (keeping steam in offline mode), it will load up, I can then disconnect from internet (after its loaded up) and the game will work.

It seems that the title screen needs the internet to load something, Maybe ithe facebook, and twitter buttons? Thats the only explination I can think of, unless it is ment to stop you from playing disconnected from internet? Which, if that is the case, why not have a message telling me that?

I just want to play this game, and a couple other little strategy games on a long road trip on my computer. Was just testing out some to make sure I didn't run into any problems... like this one. I could just load up this game while I have wifi, then just leave it running, but I don't really want to keep it running if I decide to play another game for a while. =/

Is there a fix to this, ment to be this way, or is a fix on the way?

I haven't had this issue, I just moved so my interenet was out for a few days, I signed in to steam in offline mode and had no issues playing Plague, Inc.: Evolved.

Humm, I can do some more testing. Ill try some restarting my computer and move my steam and the game from my external hard drive to the computers hard dirve. I have windows 8.1 if that has anything to do with it as well.

We've tested playing online and offline too and it seems to work fine. However we'd like to get to the bottom of the issue. If you're getting the black screen bug, it's probably not to do with the internet but the graphics card talking to the game right. Drop us an email on pctechsupport@ndemiccreations.com with the operating system, graphics card, machine type please. Thanks.

Just a little update. When I load steam up without internet connection, plague works fine offline with no internet. But if it is loaded up online then disconected from internet, loading plague causes the above problems. So I guess in most cases steam would be loaded up offline if you don't have internet to play with atm. Or would just require you to reboot steam.

Put steam on offline mode when playing with no internet

@nano_virus -- I do, but when the internet is disconnected it automaticaly swaps to offline.

I've had a problem with this today. Playing offline it got stuck on the loading screen. When I went online all was ok, but I've previously played offline with no problems. Hopefully it is a one off, but thought it a good idea to report it.

Someone else reported this recently and the issue was resolved was by logging into Steam normally with an Internet connection, then putting Steam into offline mode (by selecting Steam in the navigation bar and clicking Go offline) and then disconnecting from the Internet before running the game.

Let us know if this helps or not, and we can look at other options :)

I did this and it's working now. It seems bizarre that it is doing this, anyway at least it is working again. I take it that it is your view that it is Steam causing the problem and not your game?

I have something similar, but instead im getting it stuck on the loading screen where it first shows your mouse, right before it shows you the game menu. it only happens when i load the game up offline
